Backflip Help

So I got a new tramp this summer, and I am landing backflips very consistently and have no fear at all. Yesterday I began to try them on the ground. It went very well and I was commiting to the flip everytime and getting pretty close to landing them. Then on one attempt I didn't commit and bailed halfway. I wasn't hurt at all and the fall didn't scare me, but I can't get myself to do another flat ground flip. Any tips on how I can get rid of this fear or should I just start on the tramp again.

you got this. If you have already done it a few times just keep trying it. Once you get over the main fear then it begins to get easier. It's okay, I think we've all been there but just keep a clear mind and stay motivated.

I would maybe go to a gym with a foam pit or perhaps a spring floor. Gradually work your way back, don't just send it.

JUST SEND IT SON, DONT LISTEN TO THIS N00B

Step 1: make Ns thread

Step 2: get peer pressured as fuck into it

Step 3: ??????

Step 4: Profit.

Trust me. I speak from experience.

That's how you get hurt and have a short season bud.

i doubt anyones going to be ending their season with mid summer flat ground backflip attempts any time soon, but hey.

Jump up and lean back.

don't lean back lol...when doing flat ground backflips, i always think of jumping UP rather than jumping/leaning back to set your flip. I used to just lean back and do them and almost wrekt myself multiple times. Jump up, you need the height to get the flip around.

True. And to add to this, most people who lean back to initiate a flip either don't fully understand the mechanics or are nervous and just want to get the flip around.

Swing your arms, jump up, and bring your knees to your shoulders. Actually don't lean back at all. As long as you don't bring your shoulders down to your knees to get tucked, the way you drive your knees up to your shoulders is plenty of momentum to make it around. Ideally you want to land where you started from too.

Doing it this way actually maximizes your height and it makes it 10x easier than how most people do back tucks. It's just more intimidating. But you got it.

Last year I witnessed a really talented kid throw a double on a tramp. This kid had done many doubles before and he landed wrong one time and fucked up his spine real badly. Not being negative but it can and does happen.

well yeah but you can die falling over from standing up so i'm talking within sports reasoning. Like yeah, you could die or really badly fuck yourself up but the odds of doing that are meh so it's worth it.
