Backflip apprehension!

Hi there, I've rodeod/mistied/front flipped etc. (counting sketchy landings) and am pretty confident doing most things on a tramp ,cork 9s etc.,

I used to be able to do them on the trampoline but after landing on my neck on one, when ever i try to do one it turns into a kind of off axis lincoln, even if i dont feel any fear before trying it i'll still go completely off axis, like a bad habit! and now i've started to go off axis on my fronts aswell!

Any tips to sort that out as a Backflips the trick i've always wanted to nail just for its novelty value and it pisses me off not being able to do them!thanks

im almost 100% sure your not looking straight back. Just as your about to go inverted your looking over your shoulder to see the ground sooner. im guessing. If thats the case, Commit to the trick before it bits you. Look straight back. try some under water and get a feel for going straight back(blow water out of your noise slowly or it might hurt)

last time i tried a backflip my ski popped off and i overrotated and backflopped on an icy landing.....No i am scarred ill overrotate so i will overcompensate and barely spin at all. I can do them on tramps and off ledges but not on skis......Any tips?

you could build a pow kicker, or take some gymnastic training those coaches are good. Think of it like a injury or broken car when its broke you bring it to a Dr or Mechanic. Well some times you have to bring a trick in to get it fixed.
but i think you need to work on timing and visualization its so key. Timing can be trained as ez as watching some one els hit the jumps and count out the air time in sec, apply that to the timing of the back flip and in your head do the math. small jump=fast back flip big jump=slow flip poppy jump=less flip to do flat jump= you tell me?

I can do backflips like nothing on a tramp...I guess im also really afraid that the wieght of my boots and skis will mess up my rotation...Should i spin a little harder cuz im on skis or not?

Ye thanks dude il try them in the water, normaly i just huck, maybe slowing the rotation down and feeling it a bit more might sort it out!

not if the jump is built just right. if your jump is super flat then ya your going to have to huck it. if its to kickey you will end up going 1 and a half. so be smart use a good mogel kicker with a soft landing.

Also make sure you're not throwing one side harder than the the other

when you do the flip keep both arms even and moving the exact same way
