Hi guys,

In 2017 i will be taking a year off. Right now I am looking for a potentially place to ski in 2017.

Would you recommend a ski sport place, where there is a lof of possibility to ski backcountry and powder?

Best regards

Anders Braun from Denmark

Hey Anders,

you should spend a season in innsbruck! lots of sick ski resorts round there for pow and park. Also lots of nice young people and cool partys. hope you find the right place for you

IBKs a good shout, there's so much skiing round there, Aarlberg's got so much terrain to play in. Plus you can get a Tyrol pass which gets you into so many local resorts!

Not really what you are asking for, but have you though about Canada ?

Spent a season i Revelstoke and Whistler in 2012. I really recommend both of those places, especially Revelstoke. It will properly cost more, but you have a long time to save up, and it is not that hard to get a job in Canada, as it is in USA.

This is indeed sick. Tirol pass is awesome..but, this year will be a good year with lots of snow from the North, 2017 probably not.. (El Nino effects etc blabla)

Will you be working or have a budget?

Weird but awesome option of you got money: Martigny in Swiss is a great base, within an hours drive you can go in all directions depending on from wich way the snow comes in and all kinds of terrain to explore.

I'm doing a season in Whistler this year. You have any backcountry advice? Was thinking of signing up to do the spearhead traverse and some other backcountry stuff after doing my ast 1

Atm i am living in Revy, originally i am from the Northern Alps and i must say:

I dont wanna recommend you the standart Alps or BC stuff. If you wanna look for really good touring with sick mountains look for the Pyrenees or the northern Norway coast mountains.

Both are really unique, less crowded, awesome touring areas. If you browse a bit through vimeo.com you will find some cool inspiring videos :)

If you wanna stay in the Alps: Like others said: Arlberg or Innsbruck or South Tyrol (northern Italy) or Veneto (Cortina D Anpezzo, north easy Italy) or maybe Piemont (Around Cuneo, north west Italy)

in general the Italian Alps are cheaper, better for touring, the people are super friendly and the food is killing it.
