yo im goin up there this february and was wondering how the backcountry is at these 2 mountains and how easily accessable it is. ive never been out west so i have no clue what its like

Some nice backcountry close by. Beehive is right there and if you traverse west of the dakota lift there is a real sick ridge you can ski. I forget what it's called but you can see it from the lift. You have to skin out or bootpack, but I would prefer to skin out. Also off the backside of lone peak there is some good shit but all of this stuff you need to know about avys quite a bit cause the avalanche danger there is usually pretty high.

There's backcountry gates at Moonlight and Big Sky, as well as places like Beehive. However, these areas are all susceptible to a lot of wind loading, weird sun exposure, as well as an overall super variable snowpack, so if you haven't done quite a bit of backcountry skiing I wouldn't recommend any of them at all.
