Anything with D3O or similar flexible foam protector.

I'm using first generation Slytech naked back protector.

Pros:

- flexible

- hardens on impact

- absorbs it

Cons:

- Velcro strap, shoulder straps screwed up my fleece

- Doesn't have any holes in it (unlike the current slytech protectors - no ventilation)

My advice is to buy any modern vest that meets EN 1621-2 Level 1 (I think level 1 is enough) standard from reputable brand (slytech, poc, dainese). Choose the one that has better ventilation

football gear

lol when i was first learning rails i used my hip, thigh, and knee pads from football

in pre and post season when the snow melts i use an old moto cross plastic chest protector, seems to work ok and the plastic has definitely deflected some good hits. if i had money i would totally by a legit one
