So, I have come to the conclusion that this season is the one where I'm going to learn new tricks such as flat/rodeo 5/7, cork 7, cork 3.

What did you do to have the balls to go for those tricks?

I can pretty much do everything on tramp easily but not dubs (execpt dub back and dub side flip).

For example, how does doing a cork 7 and rodeo 5 on snow have a difference on doing it on tramp and how should i approach those tricks?

Thanks if you read this far.

Ah yes the seasonal what trick should I do/how do I get balls/how do I flatspin threads are here.

Winter must be coming.

learning cork 7s was pretty intimidating for me even though i had them on lock on tramp.

1st one i got nailed i basically threw it pretty hard but not quite as hard as i would on a tramp, the key part for me was that i pulled my knees up way more than i would on a tramp, this helps with getting you into and out of a cork position. you wouldnt need to do it has much on a tramp because you have no weight on your legs.

so key points, good pop, drop a shoulder a little and throw down a little more than you would for reg 7, and pull your legs up alot!

If you can flat 3 (properly) on a tramp you can on skis. again good pop, drop your shoulder and reach for japan and it should come around.

once you've got flat 3s, flat 5s will be pretty easy to learn. assuming you are comfortable landing switch. just do your standard flat 3 maybe set it less flippy and then when you get to 3 start looking back up the hill and your body will follow. my first few i ended up going more like flat 450 and reverting the last 90 but the more i did them the truer to 540 i got.

Haha ikr. My season is starting tomorrow

cork 3s are the only jump trick i can do but theyre so easy dude. you can learn it in like 15 jumps having never done one on a tramp. just carve hard, drop your shoulder, fuckin, do grab, if you set it right you can see the landing the whole time and then you just wait

hehe today i practised doing carving 3s and it felt like cork 3 but it wasn't, I will go for it the next time I ski if the park's jumps are on point. btw I faceplanted the ugliest 540 ever. I had way too much speed and almost flew to the flat..

I've struggled with commitment a lot with throwing new or scary tricks and the biggest thing I've found is starting on a set up you are comfortable with. I'd recommend, depending on where you live, that you build a jump into powder. Make the take off a little steepper than normal, but long enough to not to be too poppy and just so you have plenty of room to set up for the trick. Also for new tricks I find stepups to be the less scary for some reason. Also, although I haven't learned any of the tricks above yet, I recently learned how to side flip on the ground and off of rocks, it was pretty scary and even after I started doing them a lot of the time I would regress and get to scared to to them again. I found however that if this happened though all I had to do was diving shoulder roll or frontflip to get used to going upsidedown again and it gave me the confidence to huck them again. So start by throwing a few warm up tricks that you feel comfortable with and build you confidence up with. It also works if you have friends there watching since the peer pressure will make you more sendy. And try to take deep breaths and relax, psyching yourself out ahead of time doesn't help. Good luck

Thanks for the tips. Funny thing is that almost every time I ski alone and I am the only one willing to go skiing since I live an hour away from the closest resort. And that resort doesn't have really good jumps and there is no hills here where I live. I am just going to go for it if the landings are soft enough. Yesterday I overshot 540 and faceplanted, now my whole body is killing me

You either have em or you don't that's all there is to it. If you got it, you'll know...

Yeah I just ski alone a lot so I am never confident enough to go for new jump tricks.

I threw my first backflip because when I brought up the idea of doing one to my friends they all said, "you won't do it," so I had to prove them wrong. Proving other people wrong is probably the biggest motivation in anything (not just skiing) for me, so get someone to ski with for a day or two to push you and motivate you.

If you want to learn new tricks build a booster into powder

Problem is that i kinda live in the middle of nowhere in a rly small town and here is not any hills. We had built a booter into the powder many times in here and tried to get the most speed we could but only trick you can do off it is like a 540 or a backie..

Yea thanks for the tip, but I had my first day of the season like 3 weeks ago and i learned new rail tricks cus i just went for them and tried to "show off" kinda but not really. It is not the same when it comes to jumps but i just gotta go for tricks if i want to learn them.
