Awsome new site to rate terrain parks

Hi guys,

I actually started mysnowpark.com and I'm really interested in getting your feedback. I think the whole idea behind the site will work. But of course the site is gonna need a lot of small changes and additions to work perfectly.

But the first objective is to get a reasonable amount of active users and then get their feedback - so things can be changed to fit their wishes.

Mezmerize19$: Why dont you think it will work. Give me some constructive feedback and I am willing to listen...

if people can update the parks layouts and setups that would be dope. that way you know what features are there, how the jump lips are, size of tables, etc. if it had a forum arrangement for each park then you always knew where to go ski. especially if you live in a place like summit county where you have options of where to go ski park.

Im loving the whole concept of one site to go on and update but unless you get a bunch of really devoted people to post on it I dont think its going to work. You can only do so much yourself as the creator being the mountains you ride at and webcams, but thats about where it stops. In the end I guess im doubting the amount of traffic that you will get to the site and how many people will actually stay and post quality stuff. If you get it to work though, hooray for you and good job making a quality site. In my mind though, I dont know how many people will do this enough for it to actually build off. I hope it works though cause it could be sick

he wants constructive feedback to help him with his site.

If i were you. I would contact every resorts PR and ask if they are interested in creating an account and updating their parks regularly on your site.

You are going to have to throw them some ways how it will help them in order to do it.

Thats actually possible right now with the "PARK MAP" on each park. It's like a sketch of the park seen from above. Combined with photos I think this is gonna be really cool...

Yeah I know the main stumbling block for success is to get enough devoted people to actually use the site and contribute with quality content. But I know there are enough devoted people right here on newschoolers and there are probably even more snowboarders out there.

It's gonna take some time but hopefully will work in the end...

And to DOSMedia: Thank you for a useful suggestion. I have definitely considered working actively with the resorts. They'll be contacted soon.

yeah try to get some resorts in on this, I'm sure they'd be stolked to get the word about there parks out there. It might be harder with smaller clubs like mine (craigleith, ontario canada) but its possible. You could get people to bring word of this to the park techs at their local hills etc.

How would you rather like to find resorts?

There is already the search function and I thinking about further developing the google map function (eg. with a dynamic list of the resorts in the map at the current zoom level).

You also now have the top parks page where you can locate the highest rated parks with different filters (continent, country, and more)

the site looks too trashy and disorganized...

take a cue from sites like Wikipedia and Facebook, to make it more organized.

Also the idea that people can add parks unlimitedly kind of sucks.

There are only so many parks so they should each be put it once and then fixed.

also, there is

www.snowparkguide.com

www.snow-parks.com

If the site can get regulars to update the park conditions, while telling truthfully what the park conditions are like and reps from those parks can help manage the site whenever possible...plus getting support from the mountain communities who use the parks, then the site may take off.

It really comes down to taste if you find the layout/design trashy and disorganized. I dont think it is. But making things very user friendly is a definite goal so we'll keep working on that.

The main idea behind the site is actually the same openness of wikipedia as you mentioned. It's really up to the users to add content and keep the content up-to-date. Thats the whole philosophy.

This way the site doesn't rely on one or a few people to search the world for all parks and add them. Instead everyone can contribute.

At some point all parks will be there and there'll be no more use for the add function (but I guess new parks will keep being created around the world).

More important is it that everyone can edit parks. So once they are added they'll need to be updated every time changes are made. And this is supposed to be done by the average user who just visited the park, but might as well be done by a member of the park crew or whatever.
