Awesome Shaun White Part

i dont really like shaun white

i understand his great skill, but i think hes a little overated

in the olympics all the talked about was shaun white, they didnt acknowledge any of the other great snowboarders, danny kass, or anti auti, idk i'm jus saying there are other amazing snowboarders out there who dont get the celebrity status they deserve
 
well im deffinatly a few years behind with my snowboarding knowledge.

that was fucking rediculous.....who does that, like 60 foot table to 30 foot rail.

he won every comp he entered this year

every grand prix

xgames halfpipe and slopestyle

olympics

there are more but those are huge name competitions.
 
yes, but he also comes into huge comps like that with a reputation of winning so when he takes his runs people are expecting him to win so if he does decent, hell win. anyway, that is a good part from the white album, my only problem is shawn white has only done abouyt 2 urbans, ever.
 
i saw a video of the first urban he ever hit with a professional filmer... and he back lipped it

first trick, first time. pretty wild.

plus, rails arent hard compared to the rest of snowboarding, you look at every big name pro out there thats been in the game for a while, they all picked rails up like it was no big deal, but you dont see the hardcore rail dudes hittin the big booters.
 
i disagree with the no1 can touch him

ive seen many runs that have been better and the riders have been cheated

also there are other no name riders who are better, but all those contests are about publicity and without the famous pros then not that many people would watch, so many of the no name riders are cheated out of the finals, which is what happens in many of those contests, many other riders can pull the backside 10, their names just arent shaun white
 
its not just a bs 10 though, its a fs 10, a sw fs 10, a sw bs 10, he can toss 10s in every direction with style, and one right after another

theres only a handful of people in the world who can do that, and even less that can do it under pressure.

theres a reason everyone talks about shaun white, and its because he is the best overall snowboarder in the world.
 
good point, there are alot of rail kids who cant ride outside the park for shit. but shawn white hits rails, just not urbans as much. i think to be able call him the best snowboarder, you have to be dominant in most all aspects of snowboarding, and hes got park and pipe on lock for sure, but not the streets yet.
 
true. he doesnt quite have the BC either though. he did ride in alaska which is sick, but i havent seen much outside of that. actually i havent even seen first decent yet, but im assuming its ill gnar.
 
id say the best all around snowboarder is probably mfm... i cant think of anyone off the top of my head who can completely destroy every aspect of snowboarding. but the best snowboarder as far as raw talent goes has to be shaun white. he hasnt conquered every aspect, but the kid is still 19, and has been o n a heavy competition circuit since the age of 12. wait til he settles down and starts taking the other aspects seriously. if he decides to do that.
 
but, there are many other snowboarders who dont do contests and are purely video riders who can do many of the things if not more things that shaun does
 
when shooting a video, you can fall (x) amount of times... if you fall in a comp you lose. being able to land anything you want whenever is a pretty unique talent.
 
definitally not mfm. hes good but if you look at his video segments he just does the same tricks over and over again. sick style but not a whole lot of progression just a million cab spins and sw fs lips. the thing about shaun white is that he is consistant and very good. first snowboarder to do all four nines in the same run speaks for itself. better runs have been done than shauns but overall he deserves everything he has gotten. other riders are not hyped up as much as him because they are not as good as he is. he is the olympic gold medalist and rightfully so
 
Sure, White's a contest machine and wins every contest because he's so used to competing and has great consistancy. I've never really thought of him as being very steezy though, he's just very clean and consistant. I respect him for winning contests, but outside of that I don't really think he can hold a candle to guys like Chad Otterstrom, Andreas Wiig, or Danny Kass because those guys really can ride absolutely EVERYTHING amazingly and balance contest riding with video parts. I need to see White pull together a full part that's up to par with everyone else before I really see him as the amazingly well rounded rider that everyone has set out to label him as.
 
shaun is amazing just watch him in real life..you can tell its him from the bottom of the hill he throws shit soooo smooth even though hes doin tens

how the fuck do you land on a rail 50-50 after a 20 foot gap?thats accuracy right there
