for anyone who likes Avicii/ EDM, you can now listen to and download his set at Tomorrowland 2012, and many other DJ's sets too.

Avicii: http://mixing.dj/2012/livesets/avicii-tomorrowland-2012-live-set-belgium-27-07-2012/

a list of all the others: http://mixing.dj/tomorrowland-2011-livesets-collection/ (the link says 2011 but the actual page has 2012 sets too)

i dunno if this is old news but i searchbarred and nothing came up.

the reason i posted avicii's and not any of the others is cos my friend sent me it and i had it open, and also cos i saw him at Creamfields and he played pretty much the exact same set (although tracks were in a different order) and it was fucking sick IMO and i have yet to listen to any of the other sets so i cant compare them. so yeah if you're gonna start hating for whatever reason just go elsewhere please :)

This is pure cheese, try checking out some real house djs like dj sneak, mark Farina, derrick carter, terry Mullan, miles meada, and get learned.

I don't know why there is so much hate for Avicii. The guy is a beast and I personally love his music. Yeah, he's mainstream now. Big fuckin whoop. He makes good music which is all i care about.

this exactly. it doesnt matter what Genre it is, how old it is, or what other people say. If its good its good and thats all that matters

one i took at CF:

Yeah but this isn't good, at all. It's really cheesy commercial rubbish. I've been around house and edm for 20 years and have dj'd alongside many top pros and producers, and sorry to burst your bubble, but this is crap. Sorry for the rant and all but if you were exposed to non commercial underground edm long enough you would eventually see my point.

Just listened to the whole set. Not as good as some of his other sets (Super Glow). This isnt a complete set either. It skips around ahead which is really annoying.

It takes the art of turntabilism out of it and unfortunately your generation is missing out on the best part of seeing a live dj set, its pure spinal tap watching these milli vanillis up there using laptops.

Its hard to learn to harmonicly mix in key on the fly, and to beat match using pitch mixing only, very few even famous pros are even good at this, and style is something your born with that cant be taught or learned, so you are right in the sense that anyone can learn to dj, but few have ot down to a locked science.

Dj sneak for example, look up hoa dj schedule, true underground legend plays huve festivals all over the world yet keeps it real thats a small example of the many.

I am not saying all commercial edm is bad, look at daft punk, true underground legendary house heroes that went bigger than any, ever, even pretty lights is super quality tastefully done production, his live performance is lacking majorly though, lap top fakester. Its just painful looking at some clown up there pressing play and waving his arms in the air when he doesnt evn know how to work the gear.

I know my shit as well, let's start out with your age? I'm 36 and have been around in the edm scene since its inception, {see frankie bones origional storm parties and primary color parties in new england}. Long before it was even called a "rave", me and my friends were setting up speakers in warehouses and lofts, tossing baby powder on the floor and slaying beats. i'm as old school as they come.

The fact you even bring up trance is conversation viod immediately, who the fuck likes or listens to trance? shits fucking ghey as can be. armin van burthefuck? really, again conversation is void.

Now on to this, do you even own a set of tables, cdj's? really, do you even know how to match a beat? something tells me ya don't son.

and as far as learning my shit? lol. I've opened up and embaressed so many pro dj's and producers in my career its not even funny, harmonic key mixin, effect and eq layering, pitch mixing is in my back pocket.

if you wanna talk articles, see dj sneaks in rolling stone in which he slays all these milli vanilli fools. I believe deadwigger5 was on the cover.

Remember when Sneak called Swedish House Mafia "DJ actors"? A couple of months on, and he's gone a bit further. In a recent interview, DJ Sneak has said the DJ trio are "manufactured like Coca-Cola" and are "vandalising and bastardising" house music.

He said: "While I do this for love and homage to the music and DJing craft, they constantly figure out ways to make it the most commercial noise they can make. Their main focus for creating is to make some hit, it is not about creating something original and soulful, it’s about following the calculated steps to come up with a hit for the purpose of their own success.

"They measure success by spending ridiculous amounts of money paying their way to the top. But they are not the first ones. Tiesto was a master at creating the super DJ brand, with big budget marketing, financial support, and a well managed team. So called DJ/ producers like Avicci, David Guetta, Afrojack must all be down with the same fabricated manufactured DJ superstar manual because they are all doing it the same way, often supporting each other to become bigger better brands.

"They are clearly manufactured like Coca-Cola.

"Listen to the classics, look back at the history. If you’re going to start making or playing house music, educate yourself and second respect the sound. They need to take a good look at themselves and realise that they are the worst thing that has ever happened to this music industry.

"We built this house a long time ago, these newcomers just like to vandalise it by bastardising the music to become some kiddie pop genre."

haha its cool, i entirely expected a shitshow as soon as i posted the word Avicii in the title.

im not even gonna begin to argue but seriously jpf or whatever the fuck your name is, just shut the fuck up and get out. either youre a complete dick and attempting to troll or you're blind and didnt read my OP. either way i never said avicii was as good as or better than anyone, i merely posted that cos i was listening to it at the time. don't like it? don't listen to it. i also posted a link to a tonne of other DJs' sets.

@joel, creamfields was fucking sick. unfortunately the Sunday was cancelled cos the weather was so bad that the arena was flooded to shit and some of the stages were unsafe, so i missed a load of acts i wanted to see, but i still had a sweet time. would definitely go back, and would recommend it to anyone no matter how much you like EDM or how much you know about it

anyway, why dont we all just enjoy the music and get along? after all:

you guys might think this shit is stupid but the amount of work it takes to get these productions to sound good on a giant sound system takes a lot of fucking work. at least respect the hustle.

youre just coming off as a super douche, who's rationale is that since you are intouch with 'underground' music you know what sounds better than the rest of us. its like the 16yo's in the hip-hop threads. im not saying underground music is bad, theres no reason to think that. but likewise you cant say that just because something is on the radio or in the big clubs it is necessarily bad.

and what are your pictures supposed to be proving? fat guys in the dark make better music? how can the way someone looks define quality of music?

youre just not making any good arguments here...

seriously though, tomorrowland took place in july, you're a little late no?

and avicii did sell out and sometimes that makes someone better. in this case, after seeing avicii twice, one year apart, i'd have to say that his selling out was for the worse. using the same synths in all of his productions gets a bit tedious. he's trying to change his sound but honestly, it sucks. go listen to his "last dance", it's awful
