Avi to dvd Help Quickly

Hey just have a quick question for you guys, since I'm not too tech saavy. I have a bunch of downloaded movies i want to get onto dvd, and when I go to burn them it says it can't burn an avi file onto a disc as a movie, just onto it as data. So my dvd player won't play them. When I search google I can't find any good free ones, they all leave a watermark on the movie unless I buy the software. So can anyone link me to a free avi to dvd converter they use? Thanks. +K

Are you on windows or Mac? Windows you can just open windows movie maker and import the file put it in the timeline and export the movie as another file type with Macintosh you may not be able to use the new iMovie but if you go on apple.co
 
You can download iMovie 07 the oldschool one (it is grey not black and uses a classic timeline instead of the stiupid new thing) this version does support .avi files and then you can export from there as another file hope this helps you out
