I always seem most comfortable in 120. The Técnica Mach 1 LV I'm in right now feel 20 flex points stiffer than the Hawx Ultra 120 though, I'm thinking about playing with the screws connecting the clog and cuff to make some adjustments.

Flex rating is so arbitrary, I've felt 100 flex race boots that are way stiffer than many 130 boots on the market. Would be sick if boot flex were standardized. Like the rating could be in N/cm at 0°C or something

Does booster strap increase flex? My boots are a little soft for me and there is too much space at the cuff. I think booster strap would fix both these problems

If you have too much cuff space put a spoiler in the rear.

I don’t think booster straps increase flex, if anything they might be softer than a rigid power strap. Definitely a nice upgrade tho

What’s a spoiler and how does one put it in the rear

Just a curved little peice of plastic to take up some cuff volume. Typically attaches to the liner You could order one or find one at a boot fitter.

Couldn’t even tell ya what my scarpas are for a boot flex, I don’t even think they do flex #s on tele boots. They are SOFT n flexy

Soft boots + soft skis = barely skiing

Soft boots + stiff skis = war crime

Stiff boots + soft skis = ideal park setup

Stiff boots + stiff skis = ‘ski the bumps’ dad

My bootfitter said he would never put someone under 150 pounds in a 130, so I'm in a 120... anyone else hear this before?

Seems like a good guideline for the average skier, but if you like to charge hard in freeride and carving and like stiff boots nothing wrong with going for the 130
