Aux jack instalation

why not just buy a new deck and wire harness for $100 and have better sound quality, aux, usb and featuuuures mannnn

if you are will to pay $200 for an aux port you should die and installing it yourself is very easy

just get a new reciever and get one with a aux and a usb port. you can get them for less than 100 at places like car toys or best buy, and i think they have free instalation

i used to install all types of car electronics in high school.

It's pretty easy, if you can follow directions. I mounted a touchscreen dvd player in my tuner, that was the only weird install.

a Car audio deck Sony's etc $50-$100

wire harness

remove a few things unplug a few things screw a few things plug the harness in faceplate done .

if you go thru with maintenance, like anything else, follow the instructions and read carefully.. almost any maintenance will make sense if you take your time. Anything with cars or stereos probably has a how to on YouTube as well.

somtimes theres alot more too it than just "buy a new deck".

most hondas etc will just slip out the stock head unit and then slip in a new universal sized aftermarket deck simple as that.

for example, i got a double din screen for my 05 cts without looking into install.

turns out, because the "entertainment centre" is practically all one big piece, that the dash would need to be heavily modified just to fit a single or double din aftermarket head unit.

were talking relocate the cd player, rewire the heads up display, rewiring steering wheel controls, cutting and remolding the entire stock face plate/dash.

quotes i had were pushing $1k from reputable shops.

needless to say, i sold the deck, bought a aux input, had a shop install it for $100 and it was the best thing ever.

my dash isnt all hacked to shit, the car still looks completely stock, and i saved about $900.

if you cant just buy a new universal head unit than buy a aux.

and if you dont know what youre doing, have someone install it for you, its cheap enough.

hope that helps

Sorry to thread jack a bit but has anyone ever installed one in a mazda? The stereo/head unit is all one big piece so I can't put an aftermarket one in that I know of

Rereading I get what you said now. I thought you installed a whole new hu. But even still I'm looking for anyone who's installed it themselves to see if I'm able to. I'm not dropping $100 to get someone to instal it for me. I know basic wiring skills

I will be shortly. I actually like the mazda head unit, so i'm not switching mine. you CAN, but it makes the top screen useless. regardless, i'm buying this. In shipping, i should have it soon.

you can just pull the head unit out, it'll attach to the tape/MD slot i believe, and then you can use the steering wheel controls.

OP, it'll just be a matter of figuring out how to remove the head unit. search some forums, there are likely detailed How-To's floating around.

nope you can. i was reading something where, if you installed that, then if you ALREADY had an AUX jack, it would replace that option on the head unit. but for mazdas without, you would plug it into Tape/MD or external CD whatever, and it will show up as AUX.
