Autoplay on the home page

Videos autoplaying from the homepage needs to go away. Sure, Ahmet's edit is cool, but it's largely an inconvenience coming from a slow internet connection
 
How is it an inconvenience? If your internet is slow, I would imagine the video would just hang and not play? If you're experiencing issues loading the front page, its probably the entire page in general that's causing you some issues, not the auto playing video.

Also, time to get off dial up :P

the issue is on the computer at work. it's old and doesn't have much in the ways of processing power or RAM, it's possible that's what causes the issue.

i guess part of my question would be, why do we need autoplay? I've already watched the featured edit, so now every time I go back to the homepage (which is a lot, for whatever reason it's a habit) a video I've already seen starts playing. obviously I understand just clicking "pause" is a stupidly easy solution, but why make autoplay default in the first place?
