Australians looking to work whistler 2018/2019

Hey Guys,

Just a few questions i hope you can help me with. A friend and i are hellbent on working a season and were really hoping for whistler. We contacted whistler about it and they advised us we could go one of two ways for employment, an agency called the working holiday club or fo it ourselves through the whistler website and then source staff accom through that department.

However, when speaking to the holiday club people they informed us all their quota had already been filled. So we were wondering if anyone had applied through the website and how difficult it was to land a job and subsequently how difficult is it getting staff accom?

I'd say just do it through the website and if it doesn't work out you're no worse off than otherwise.

If Whistler doesn't work out and you can find a job at a slightly less known mountain BC or Alberta, you might not have to work as much, therefore more skiing time, and you won't have to deal with the ridiculous prices of everything in Whis or the huge crowds.
 
Don't do the working holiday club I've heard time and time again it's a waste of time and money for the vast majority of people.
 
Look into working for the Fairmont Chateau Whistler... this winter and 97% of my co-workers were Aussie. The major perk is that they provide staff housing (along w other Fairmont benefits).

From what I know many of them showed up to the hiring fair in November, got hired, and stayed for the season or longer. I skied a ton because I got a job serving at night time with the occasional morning shift.
 
I worked as a lifty there. No experience needed. Found the job after 2 weeks of being there. Didn’t stay in staff housing but I was there for a year so didn’t want to.

Worked 40 hr weeks. 3 days off. Plus worked on peak chair so got plenty of skiing when I worked too.
 
you don't get much skiing in working for the hill, save like crazy over here for the next few months and go over to whis without having to work
