About to study abroad here for the next three months. I'm going to be in Queensland (more specifically the Atherton Tablelands) and I have absolutely no idea what to expect. Any words of wisdom?

you bring up a good point. what should i drink while i'm there. what are some legit australian beers?

oooo you're gonna have an awesome time!! I'm studying abroad in Queensland right now, at Bond Uni, its fuckin great.... as for booze, i've been drinking boxed wine since its cheaper than water here haha, but I haven't found a beer here that I actually really like yet... just ask people you meet in bars what they suggest!

this place is absolutely unreal. the rainforest is awesome, so if you have time to make there while you're here kim, definitely do it. heading in to the pubs for the first time tomorrow night, so there should be some great shenanigans to report back on.

new question though. has anyone here ever been to magnetic island? i think thats where i want to go for my spring break but i'm trying to learn more about it. thanks!

yeah, I was in Cairns for my first 4 days when I first got here in the beginning of January, the rainforest and great barrier reef were definitely so sick. As for magnetic island, i have a trip scheduled there for march 5-9th so if your break is after that i'll let you know how it goes! Ive heard good things, also about fraser island too... you might wanna think about doing a Whitsundays Islands tour if you've got the funds!

my mid-semester break is sometime around march 20th, so definitely let me know how it goes

if anyone is going to be in cairns this weekend, you should come to gilligans and party with myself and a bunch of other rowdy americans who have been stuck in the jungle for way too long.
