Imma be a hater for a second but it has to be said: I do not like this years setup. At all.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s really well build as always and there’s a lot of good content coming out already, but it’s just boring. The way I see it, it’s essentially just a big air jump and a big ass tap feature. There are also barely any rails even if you count the ones off to the side next to whatever that downwards spiral is supposed to be. I guess you could argue it forces riders to be more creative but there’s really only so much you can do on two features.

Again, props to the boys and girls that built it but no me gusta.
 
I actually think there’s room for some weird transfer stuff which I’m a fan of. One thing I hate is when they DONT build a big ass jump.

I hope to see some NBDs this year, let kimbosessions have the creative, styled out stuff
 
to me this year they just built too big and ngl audi nines doesnt seem that fun to go to if u ask me, seems more like its made to look nice than to be nice to ski
 
I think this is one of the sickest setups they've ever built. So many options and that weird mushroomy dome thing is wild. I think they went smaller on some things to make sure they could pull it off but this comp is generally about groundbreaking features and aesthetics and i think they did that.

You're seeing features thats you literally haven't ever seen. It's ballsy to go out and do something never been done these days. I applaud the fuck out of it.

I haven't watched enough of the content but I'm hyped that this exists. Sure it's different but just that one feature challenges everything that's ever been built.

these kinds of events are only interesting when youre like 14 and new to park skiing because i used to watch that shit up

they almost tried to get too creative, if that makes sense. The features are so weird nobody can really throw down heavy

Idk man I’m not the greatest skier or a park builder or even very creative so maybe there’s just something I just don’t see. Yeah whatever the fuck matej did was ridiculous but hitting it like that is just making it an overbuilt quarter pipe. And hitting it normally makes it seem like a downsized version of last years ball with less landing. On the big air jump too they could’ve put 2 massive cannons next to the main lip.

I absolutely hate the spiral thing tho wtf is that.

Like I said tho, I would have done things differently but maybe I shouldn’t be designing nines
 
Last feature really confuses me honestly seems like a waste but like lord eheath said they try and build nice looking features. Why no crazy rails or BOXES WHAT HAPPENED TO BOXES?????? Some kind of impossible challenge rail. Rail over the mushroom or u to it. Either way I can sit here and make up shit but reality is its difficult to build and plan this stuff so I'll shut up and happily watch the cool content that comes from this.
 
The big air is good for overall trick progression so I am cool on that. The mushroom thing is really sweet to be honest and we are going to see some crazy butters and hand drags. The toilet flush thing is a complete waste of time and snow. Yeah it looks fun to do once but what tricks can you really throw on it? The could have spent the time and money making cool other actual jumps and transfers or a huge rail setup.

That was really my biggest problem. Like I remember seeing something that was basically the same in one of hotlaps older videos. Even worse is that they the pussy ass rail setup right next to it

Yeah those rails were lame as hell. They need to bring back the giant gap rails and rainbow rails of the mid 2000s.
 
Still pretty crazy how they built all this in Montana though

Only a few hours from the Canadian border I might go check it out

I saw a recent video of a skier there and he was like "wow I didn't know we were back in the states"
 
The whole thing was a little underwhelming, the previous nines were pretty sick and creative. This year is pretty mediocre at best.

Facts I havent paid attention to nines in forever. Aside from the bangers that get forced upon me against my will on instagram. I don’t mind those tho I guess
 
Looks more like the B&E invitational course than a nine nights course my only thought is that Athletes wanted it to be toned back and less suicidal. I think the true test will be the content that gets put out at the end. There is still room for pretty wild new wave tricks .

he was a decent park skier (provincial level or higher) who broke his back and started a youtube channel for Steep content. He started skiing again recently and is a pretty good commentator. Pretty much the biggest ski youtuber.

You forgot to mention he started his YouTube cuz he literally broke his back and was told he’d never be able to ski again. Apparently he made a remarkable recovery and can actually ski again, and even after a ridiculous spine injury he’s better than you’ll ever be.

I was moreso commenting on the fact that he’s not like a sweaty basement dwelling gamer that just grinds steep because he’s lazy or something. I know there’s a million stories and it’s not special, but I think that’s an important detail as to why he sinks so much time into YouTube and video games
