Attack 14 vs pivot debate

Always been a religious pivot fan, however I’ve been thinking about possibly getting a pair of attacks due to the weight. Only concern is, is the stack height higher on the attacks? Can’t really tell from the things I’ve read about them. Also I know the elastic travel is better in the pivots but I feel like it doesn’t really matter

i’m a light boy and ride pivot 12s and attack 11s and they honestly feel the same except my attacks are at an 8 and i pop out doing butters while my pivots are at a 7 and i never pop out buttering

I own both. Have had all the usual issues with pivots. Pretty much no adjustment range for different BSL, setting forward pressure is a total guessing game, and the step in is annoying especially in pow. Lateral release is nice but I haven't really had issues twisting out of my attacks either.

I'll definitely put attacks on any new skis I buy. For me the (allegedly) better release/elasticity of pivots isn't worth the higher cost, finicky setup, and how frustrating it is to put them back on in soft snow.

The Attack 11 is a beginner/intermediate binding for lightweight recreational skiers. Also the 11 has a higher ramp angle than the 13/14 or 16/17/18 to encourage newer skiers to lean forward.

Don’t forget that the pivots only have 18mm in the toe if you use the extra riser. Without the extra riser, it is about 15mm high. About a 4-5mm drop like most alpine bindings.

The attack has a lower stack height than the Pivot.

Attack is 12-15mm on the toe and 17mm in the heel.

The pivot is 18mm in the toe and 19mm in the heel.

for a full comparison on alpine bindings including the pivot and the attack you can check out blister’s run down:

ya I’ve never used the riser on mine

I’ve never had random stuff break on my Attack 13s. With my pivots I’ve had both moon plates break and fall out as well as the metal ring the heel piece spins with break. And brakes that will never stay straight.

Attacks ain’t perfect but ease of use and durability are better, never had a problem with how they release.

Also you can buy two pairs of them for the same price as pivot 15s.

I think the difference in feel between bindings is... pretty subtle. If you could tell which is which in a blind test reliably I'd be surprised
