Attach your boot

What are we robots?

Between Medium tightness put I pull the strap as tight as possible.

i pull the chord pretty tight, and the bottom buckle tight. keep the top one a little looser and crank down the power strap.

Wow is my image nor showing up, that's ruining my almost funny post.

The strap at the top of your boot is the power strap, I'm pretty sure the spks as well as all nearly other boots have it.

you want to make the boot as tight as possible, this restricts blood from your legs and allows more blood to go to your brain so you can concentrate on your whirlybirds. If you have your boots tight enough you wont get shinbang because the cuff of your boot severs your nerve pathways.

On the classic four-buckle boot, the middle two are the most critical, those are the ones that push your heel correctly into the heel pocket. Those two buckles should be tight enough so that your heel doesn't move around. The top and bottom buckles' tightness is personal preference IMO.

i ride dalbello il moros and i cut the toe buckle off caues i dont even use it and it just flops around and the ankle i make medium tight but the top buckles/straps because shim bang comes from slop in the upper boot and ur leg coming from a position in the back of the boot and slamming into the front of the boot before flexing on landings if you make it tighter then there will be less of this slop and less shin bang hope that helps pm me if you need more info

ive heard different ive been told by a boot fitter that the top two buckles are the most important and the bottom two buckles shouldnt be done up very tight because they really dont do to much. you might be right though

something to think about also is that if the top of yours boots is loose thats how you get worse shinbang than if you had that top buckle and powerstrap tighter

it must be a disorder that makes people not read previous posts

The buckle above the toe is what I've heard of as the race buckle. It is supposedly the most crucial for performance because it pushes your heel back, but if it is too tight it will cut off your circulation in a matter of seconds. That is the one that you have to adjust perfectly to avoid pain while still maintaining performance. The top buckle needs to be tight enough that you don't have room for your shin to crash into it and pack out the top part of the boot. The second buckle helps keep the heel back and also is important for your ankle and shin. the third buckle is the important one. And toe doesn't matter. Just make it comfortable.

This is for four buckle boots obviously. If you like the powerstrap tight get booster straps! You can really crank it down and up your performance and reduce shinbang.

Yeah, thats the thing i hate about the spks is they don't push my heel into the cup enough. But i try for as tight as i can go before i cut off all circulation.

Yeah, that design Salomon has is kinda weird and I'm not surprised you have that problem. Neither of the two buckles push your heel back, they just clamp down on your foot.
