Sooooo i just got a sick pair of 2013 atomic punxs, bought them brand spanking new so the edges are like razors. Should i de tune my edges and dull them down a bit with a gummy stone ? (which i have)

Saw another thread with the same problem and someone mentioned that sharper edges are easier to do super feds swtich ups etc... is this really true ? Plus with some damn sharp edges i can rip up the groomers ;)

I also have the punx (last season model). I would suggest detuning your edges, but only the length that is used when you slide rails. Sharper edges don't make it easier to do switchups and superfeds. Sharper edges can get caught on the rails/boxes, and your edge can rip out.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

if you do detune them don't go overboard. You're edges don't need to be super round right off the bat, it's better for them if you just do enough of a detune to make them not sharp then let em naturally round out. At least that's what I've come to think after working in a shop where we see skis that have been detuned too much break earlier after buying them.

If you detune them don't go overboard. I have these skis and just left the edges as they were and I only had problems on in kinks with the sharp edges.

some guy at a shop detuned my edges and went way overboard to the point where i couldn't even hold an edge...I suggest doing this and letting them detune naturally in the spots where it makes contact with the rail most often

I don't think it's a question of whether or not he could do it, more just that it'd be worse for the skis. lolzzzz

just give it one or two runs with a file and you will be golden!!, but if you do it with a gummy stone it will take forever
