Atomic HAWX 80 Liners

Substitute

My brother just got some HAWX 80s. He is not a park kid so thats why they are a race boot. Anyway are the liners in them heat mode-able? I googled it some but came up with noting.

They do use a heat mold liner yes. Hopefully when he was fit the fitter added footbeds and molded them. If not he should still get footbeds but the liner will mold just by skiing in them. Btw they are certainly not a race boot they are. A solid all round boot which could be great in the park too

He may as well try the standard liner first seeing how he has already got them anyway. No point spending more money if there is no need. Invest in some good custom footbeds if he has not already.

That boot is one of my favs for a soft flex (obviously it has to fit). For me, insole support was imperative in that boot. It worked best fit for me with arch supported and thus foot held up with proper angles of support. This is not a boot that will end up well if flat footed, imo.

Ended up getting the intuitions. He skied them after we heat molded them and he was in pain. So for $72 shipped why not

I dunno but it hurnt bad enough to take them off every ten minutes. And I know that but I had mad boot pain then got intuitions and boom fixed. He had a few diffrent footbeds but all hurt. He'll get some new ones too i guess

You also just can't toss footbeds in and go skiing. You need to adapt to them by either wearing your boot for a bit before you go skiing and/or wearing them in your street shoes.

Definitely have a fitter check his set-up. There is far more to solving a fit issue than getting a footbed or getting a liner if there are other problems which are causing the issue.

Yes, I know. He wore the boots and stuff around the house for a couple hours at a time. He said they felt fine or close to fine then. When we got out on the hill they hurt like a bitch. He said his whole foot hurt. I have no idea what that means but whatever. Hopefully with a different footbed and new liners it won't suck.

Was he actually fitted for these boots? If they were not fitted in a shop it would be worth taking them to a decent fitter and have the overall shell volume compared to his foot. If the shells dont work out, then changing liners and footbeds will do very little. So before putting more money into the boots go have someone asses his foot in them and see what needs doing.

If I had to guess I would say they are maybe a little big. If he could stand around for a few hours in them before they have been fitted, and they feel ok chances are they are a little big. Normally a snug boot will be pretty un-comfy to stand in before it beds in. I can normally manage about 10-15 mins before my feet are numb in new boots. The fact they hurt when he skis further confirms they may be a little big, Im guessing his foot has room to move inside and its because of this he is finding pain in the boots.

But Im just guessing so go get them looked at.
