Hey guys,

Im looking to get a pair of AT bindings to make hiking around easier, but i know very little about this type of binding. I was hoping you guys could give me some advice about some solid binding recommendations.

marker dukes are a great value for the price. theres a whole world of different AT bindings, but dukes would be a great first pair for someone looking to get into the touring scene.

before you even think about AT bindings get educate about avalanches

that being said how do you plan to use them, in bounds/sidecountry, short tours, long tours, etc.?

I was in a simular situation a couple weeks ago. I have a pair of Marker Barons in the mail right now. Honestley the baron is gonna be fine unless you are gonna be launching like 40 foot cliffs or want your DIN higher than 9. the only difference is the Duke is a 6-16 DIN and has more magnesium metal parts than the baron. Those two are good for if you are gonnna be boosting cliffs and want more confidence in the binding but are going to be heavier. The Fritschi Freerides are plenty good too. They would be better suited for longer tours and if your not gonna be doing anything too crazy on the decente. My dad has them and the heel secure feature seems pretty solid but not as solid as the duke. I have not tried either out yet so i do not know what the boot to ski control is but i am guessing the marker barons at 380 new will have a bit better control. You could probably find the Fritshchis for 150 200 ish used on craigslist. My dad got BD havocs, the fritschis and skins for 500 plus crampons off craigslist. Its is a valuble tool when looking for an AT setup. Mine will be complete as soon as i get my Marker barons mounted up. I got alsmost new 4FRNT EHP last years for 300 then the G3 alpinist skins in 110mm width at Mountain sports outlet for 132, and i got the Barons for 360 New this years at REI.com with our REI members card. have fun out there bro. I have recentley been leaning more towards the big mountain powder scene then the park rat scene. Big mountain is SO fun and the feature you are hitting are so beautiful it just adds to it. There is nothing like landing in powder so next time you get a dump go out of the park and hit natural features. I challenge all of NS to spend a whole day skiing without going in the park once.
