Astroturf Jump?

Hey guys, so i live on a farm and have a large reasonably steep pile of dirt sitting in my yard and i was just wondering if this could be used as a drop in for a jump. I know alot of astroturf would be needed, but i figure if i could find enough then i might possibly be able to have a jump in the summer. Has this ever been done before and if so, did it work? Im just wondering if this is a waste of my time or if i could make it happen.

if you make a bad tranny and fall there, or if you fall on the landing, it will burn like no other. but other than that the only other issue would be building the landing.

well from my experience, turf is about 1/2 as fast as snow, so you would probably need snowfence too. it really depends on how big/steep the hill is and how big your jump would be. But i would say, just go to some water ramps. or use what the water ramps use.

Make the in run out of astroturf with snowfence ontop of it or just snow fence. For the kicker and landing only have astroturf so you can use your edges and have control.

i have watched yotube videos of it, it looks like a waste of money and time, you could use the hill as a drop in ramp for a rail setup and have way better luck

i dont know about you guys but i cant set any kind of edge on astroturf, so spinning would be a bit of a challenge. spend a little extra money on dendex or something if you are going to make it happen.

depending on alot of things, jump size, drop in size, gap size, grade of slope, i would say,

put plywood or wooden pallets down the whole down, transition, and jump and put astro truf over the wood, keep it not dirty, and then snowfence ofver the turf, both things have to be pulled TIGHT for optimum speed and water and soap can be put on for more, then have the landing be another pile of dirt, size will depend on speed, jump size and other variables and make it smooth and just put some turf down over it

i think that would maybe work but i dont see you getting more than a 10 ft gap

say goodbye to all exposed skin if you fall. I'd say make a rail set up, less time/money and better results

You would need a very large pile of dirt in order to get enough speed for a decent jump. You'd need the inrun to be several times longer than an equivalent snow slope, because of the increased friction. Just make a rail setup.

Definately false. I just put in some turf on my hill i watered it down and sprayed a little armorall on it. Armorall makes it slide great. My run in is about 25 feet long. I have plenty speed to hit my rail. If you say ur hill is steep enough u should be fine.

if you wanted a jump that was worth your time, and not just a 5' gap with 2' of air. if you wanted a good jump that was worth your time you should just wait till winter, otherwise just make a rail setup, a trampoline is good to get you flips and spins down, now you have the best of both worlds!

that would work fine with a 500 foot run in to get speed and you have to land perfectly like todd walnutz, can you do that? otherwise give the fuck up at life
