Aspen Early Season

Hey guys i am running a trip next winter probably December 12th-19th and we are trying to decide where to go. I am coming from Ohio and we have to plan the trip super early because of the number of people. Last year we went to winter park and it was alright but not great. This year we are looking at aspen and would get the 4 mountain pass. So what I am wondering is in the past years how does aspen, snowmass, highlands, and buttermilk look around the middle of december? Any thoughts would be great

yeah dude were coming from ohio so really any fresh snow is great for us... are there ever any parks usually open by then?

opening day on both buttermilk and snowmass have parks. by the time your here they will be even better. i ride all four of the mountains thier my home mountians so feel free to pm any questions you want.

thanks a lot for the input guys... winter park was fun last year but it was kind of a let down... no jumps untill the last day and not to great of snow....

On another note i am coming out to colorado June 11 with a travel agent to check out aspen and the other resorts... is there anything snow related still going on by then making it worth me bringing my skis out or no?

hey i went out to aspen this winter from Christmas to after new years and it was amazing, i had more fun then going out in the spring.

Parkwise

Buttermilk- had like 3 rails they were making a lot of snow for x games so we stayed away

Snowmass- Had their intermediate park fully open.

- Main park was open with their big jump line (all you really need haha)

wall ride/hip

s box

big up rail

and flat down rail.

they were pushing snow around for the upper rail section and hadn't worked on anything else.

we barely hit the park though because it snowed 2 feet every night so we skied pow the whole trip.
