Anyone living in / moving to aspen area? i've been searching for housing but no luck with anything even close to affordable. I'm going to apply to ski co. jobs, but does anyone know if they actually can provide housing? or if it is super difficult to get...

Once i finally get a place to live, i would be stoked to meet up with some NS'ers and shred once the season starts... so who will be around? send me a message or something

So as I guy who has worked for Aspen ski company and lived in Aspen ski company Housing for the last 5 years (and hopefully I can make it 6 this year) I would be more than happy to give you the 411 on working and living in the Roaring fork valley aka ASSSPEN.

Housing in Aspen or Snowmass: If your not going through ASC (aspen ski company)housing, Pitkin county housing authority, Snowmass Village employee housing expect to pay at least $1000 a month and will most likely have to sign a 1 year lease.

The other option is live in Basalt, Carbondale, Glenwood Springs, Rifle.

The cheapest housing in the town of Aspen/Snowmass is through ASC housing. Not sure what it is at the moment but they will always have the cheapest.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW: YOU have to be working for Aspen ski company to receive and to keep receiving housing. Meaning if you get fired (like many stoners/deadbeat ski bums do) you get kicked out.

Housing for ASC is prioritized to employees who are lowly paid. The number two lowest paid workers are Lift operators and ticket checkers. Almost all of those guys and gals will be in housing or offered it.

Nice thing is all housing units are very close to mountains. For 4 years I was 3 minuet bus ride from snowmass lifts and this past year I was a 2 minuet walk to the Bottom of highlands base.

While working shitty jobs has its problems it has perks to.

What you should do right now: APPLY. As we speak they are trying to fill crews. Go to Aspen snowmass web site, scroll to bottom, one of the tabs will say jobs. Follow it. They will have some job fair dates. They should have a current openings button. Follow it. You should come to a big list of openings. APPLY. Make a profile then you can mass apply for jobs. DO IT NOW CAUSE THEY WILL NOT BE THERE MUCH LONGER!!!

If you have experience in another field deftly apply to that. Some other jobs will offer housing but they most likely taken cause ASC does hiring early.

Like I said Lift operators and ticket people have the best housing chance.

I would be more than happy to tell you life style of Aspen area and many more things but first the Important things. GET A JOB. GET HOUSING. GET A PASS. You need those 3 things to be there for the season.

Like I said my friend, time is of the essence. GO!GO!GO!GO!GO!GO!GO!GO!GO!GO!GO!GO!GO!GO!GO!GO!APPLY!APPLY!APPLY!APPLY!APPLY!APPLY!APPLY!APPLY!APPLY!APPLY!APPLY!APPLY!APPLY!APPLY!APPLY!APPLY!APPLY!APPLY!APPLY!APPLY!APPLY!APPLY!
