ARV 96 vs Oblivion 94

Hey NS

I'm 19 years old 5'8 130 lbs and am located in Ontario. Fairly advanced skier but a beginner in the park who mainly likes to send it off jumps. 50/50 park/all mountain and also like hitting glades. My current skis are Line Chronics which I really like but they de-laminated in the tips. Previous Volkl revolt 85s also de-lammed.

Looking for a similar 95~mm ski and was set on the ARV 96 for $500 + STH2 13s for $300 = 800 CAD total but found that I can get Oblivion 94s $380 + Attack2 14 GW $165 = 545 CAD total through CSIA pro deals. Tried googling the Oblivions but doesn't seem to be many reviews online.

Just wondering are the ARVs worth the extra $ over the Oblivions? Mainly care about durability and all-mountain performance. Don't really ski a lot anymore because of school and not going to do anything crazy on them.

both skis and both binding options are great so you're lookin good regardless. i haven't spent much time on heads and you don't hear about them as much (marketing) but i'd be surprised if they don't have good durability. ARVs are fine in terms of durability in my experience

the oblivions are probably going to be more directional than the ARVs and i know the bases will be nicer. if you are prioritizing price and just want to know if the oblivions will generally be just as fine for you as a somewhat casual skier, then my opinion is the answer is yes

Thanks man good to hear that, I'll go with the oblivions then. Wish the graphics were cooler though
 
You might be able to get pro deal on the ARVs too. You just have to apply through the Armada website. Faction and Liberty have good pro-deals for CSIA too. Stay away from Head skis. I had a pair of Caddys a few years ago. They started delaminating a few days in and Head refused to warranty them because of 'rail damage'- I hadn't hit a rail with them yet.

Head uses edges that don't have teeth, just a smooth flange holding the edge into the ski, so when the edges break a long piece will tear out all at once instead of small pieces breaking off.
 
Oblivion is much more a pure park ski.

Arv 96 will do park just fine and be fun, but it'll have a little more for you all mountain than the oblivion
 
Update: ended up getting ARVs and imma remount my STH2 13s from my current Chronics onto them instead of buying new ones
