Armada's interview in Drop Mag

What the hell was up with that? Their answers were extremely short and pretty much dick...that really dissapoints me...maybe it shows that they arent so much of a core company anymore and are turning into another corporate asshole?

thats just how it went down, mabey they had other shit to do, mabey they just didnt care. In the end it really doesnt matter, it was just a interview on a small internet based mag (its a dope mag, dont get me wrong) but it doesnt have the influence/impact as say freeskier

that just proves my point... ' oh its just a small internet magazine we wont get any publicity out of it so fuck it why give legit answers'... they are supposed to be the 'core' company supporting this type of stuff

ya thats shitty that they would do that..they may have just had other stuff going on though i mean who know

My friend told me to check it out saying Chris was being a dick and from what I got from it... yeah he was. Small magazine or big, you should be respectful to them. He should know better than anyone being a part of Armada when it was small once like this magazine. Very unprofessional of them.

In fairness to OC he was really good about helping us get the mag out on newschoolers.

As far as the interview went we did it online so there isn't like a huge incentive then for long answers, i think he was trying to keep it short and snappy on the basis that everyone pretty much knows who armada are anyway....

mmm, i'd say the it was the magazine creators who were unprofessional. in virtually all aspects, from what i can tell. who puts in multiple 'haha's' in interviews? why does it look like all their layouts were done in paint, with ms word fonts? it looks like the kind of magazine that can only gain a following from young teenagers on newschoolers, because the content is only about what's trendy on this website anyways. plus the companies that bought ad space are whack (hint, back cover). sorry guys, chances are i won't read your next issue.

First up, what does that have to do with the PR message that Armada are sending?

Secondly i'm sorry if you dodn't like the focus, style or content of our mag. but dude i hope your objections are for the right reasons and not soley to promote another magazine

I mean i dodn't know if you're actually affliated with them or just are a huge fan but its possible for there to be more than one sick magazine. I dodn't mind if you do not like our editing style and i can get on board with the post modern layout that www.writetheotherway.com have going on but dodn't hate just for the sake of it.

First, I'd like to say the mag was a bit of a dissapointment. Kinda looked like a brochure for some public school art project. And second, I always thought "DON'T" was spelled like that, not "DODN'T". I mean seriously, you spelled don't "dodn't" 3 times in that last post...

^ oh and by the way all adverts were free with an aim to try and promote small companies in the industry, like ourselves.

so see

Ec headwear

whiteout headwear

Iv8n

etc

And anyways who judges a magazine by who adverties in it?

I laud your efforts to produce a good source of info for the skiing community. Since the mag is still in its infancy I'll assume that once you guys get your groove going the grammatical errors and picture/text quality will improve.

Anyway, ever see those interviews of the Icer Air with that fat guy interviewing the likes of Pep and TJ? It's obvious he has no idea what he's talking about, nevertheless, the athletes were respectful of his naivety and indulged the sophmoric questions. I've never ridden armada, and while I hear they have a great product and warranty program, this interview kinda left a sour image of them in my mind. I mean, to have the gall to ridicule the way a question is worded is uncalled for; add insult to injury by not even answering the question!

I think it's a dope mag. sure the layout can be improved, but there are a lot of interesting interviews and I enjoied reading it. and it's for free, so you really can't complain!

You really think COC didn't know that? He was just being a dickwad, I'll bet they keep tabs on every company, hence the ARG.

Get on topic...room for improvment, yes. Hope they learn a few things.

On the topic SUPER unimpressed with ARMADA in this arena. To insult the interviewer is just DICK. Even if they don't wear ties to the office and ski more than 4 weeks a year. That is corp. bull shit to act like you are so big you can insult the interviewer. FUCK that, I really thought ARMADA was a dope company and hope this was one instance and COC doesn't represent their staff as a whole. ...or would love to hear their side to explain the need to be an asshole?

Of course it's possible for there to be more than one sick online mag around. Moose Mag, who from what I understand was affiliated with your mag in one way or another, is a magazine I'd hype as well... it is a bang-on representation of the Quebec scene, and it looks like it was made with love.

Your magazine didn't cut it, in my humble opinion. I didn't think highly of it for a variety of reasons, some of which I touched on in my first post. The content was severly lacking... from browsing NS once a day over the past little while, I've already gathered insight into the vast majority of the topics you featured. So, it lacked that unique quality other magazines have going. Obviously there were interviews with up and comers, which is always nice. However, the questions were generally poor and didn't pack a punch. The overall layout hurt my eyes (I'm talking worse than Ski Time), and the text was terribly hard to read at times, with poor spelling and grammar littered throughout. And to be honest, I can't understand for the life of me why you'd attempt to cover a scene that (I assume) you aren't a part of, simply because of geographical restrictions (you boys do live across the pond, correct?). I'd like to add that if I'm wrong and that last point seemed off the mark... well that's irrelevant, because that's the impression I get anyways.

Those my constructive criticisms. And to answer your question, no I was not hating for the sake of it, I truly thought your efforts were below par. My advice? Go back to the drawing board, refine your styles, learn from your mistakes, and cover the scene you know closest. The most unique part of your magazine was the content we don't see every day on newschoolers- in depth european coverage. I'd say run with that. Good luck.

Maybe i'm a corporate dickhead in the making myself but here you go: O'Connell is probably super busy. He took time out of his day to sit down for an interview with this mag. First of all, the questions were super general and can be answered at their website. If you want to get a real response you need to ask a real question. Ask a thoughtful, open-ended question, not something that can be answered in 2 words. You set yourselves up for those responses. Secondly, i'd be pretty pissed if you started asking me about my competitors too. He took time out of his schedule to talk about Armada, not 4FRNT. Sterbenz isnt paying OC to advertise for him. Then immediately following that question with one that doesn't even make sense...come on guys. Third, asking about whether Armada intends to expand into Europe? Are you serious? Did you research the company and/or their team before this interview? Do your homework.

I understand its the first issue and whatnot but you guys need to work on your communications skills. Sorry if i sound a little harsh but its constructive criticism. The mag can only get better and its a sweet idea so stick with it. Peace
