are the ar5s and the arvs identical to last season's releases?...and if not then when are the 04's coming out?...i know it was kinda hard to get a hold of a pair last year so has production been upped to greater numbers for this season?

yo...if i'm close to 5'11' and 160 lbs, should i try and hit the 180s?...is that the right length or is it too much too handle?...anyone know from experience?

^ thats about my measurements, I had 176 Skogens last year and I need a bit more so I'm jumpin up to the 180 AR5s this year, i bet you will be good.

try thr 180 and 176..it's more personal perefrence

u assholes are rediculus. a new brand comes out and they sponcer some fuck named taner hill, and everyone thinks they must be the best skis ever. ppl are saying ' i want armadas, they r sick,' and they have never even seen them in person, not to mention skied them. how tre fuck do u know if its awesome if uve never even touched them? u morons are the easiest marketing target ever. if i got taner jack ass to say that getting 2 of your lower ribs removed is good because it makes u tweek grabs harder, u assholes would be like 'oh yeah im workin all summer to get the operation' fuckin naive idiots

I have touched them. I have talked to tyson. he says they are good. what you dont know is that he posted this thread asking if the skis would be the same. not the graphics, not the team. if tanner skied on 210 race skis i would not buy them, and neither would anyone else here.

Some snoboarders are cool, you are not one of them.

PLEATH! SNOWBEH! NO!!!

tanner won 5 golds last year in x games,us open etc.... all while riding the armadas... now they are two years into development with 5 others of the best riders... so i reckon the skis are crap and will only get worse... NOT!

jibba jabba dude actually if u had 176 skogens the 175 armadas are gonna ski like a 185 line. they are so much stiffer. i wouldnt get the 180.

I'll cum harder than R.Kelly at chucky cheeze.

I'll take out your 'left eye' like TLC.

So with many NS members, icluding myself, seeing them, touching them, reading about them, watchin many NS members give good reviews about them, and having Tanner Hall ride them...you can tell we are all fallin for the marketing adds and that they are crappy ass skis.

BOARDERcrk9...you call us assholes and i call you a bitch...don't be such a fucken dickhead and talk shit that you know nothing about...you ride one board and we ride two...so just stop, you're fighting a losing battle that has no purpose for you whatsoever...my question was about the ski itself...not the graphic, not the team and who is riding them...having not skiied them yet, i feel fairly confident that they are good skis after hearng the vast majority of good reviews that people have had about them...have you ridden them??...oh no?...then shut the fuck up......no one asked for you to throw a bullshit little rant into this thread that began as a simple question...don't go around calling people naive idiots when you have no idea what you are talking and nothing to back what you are trying to say......'sponser' is spelled with an 's' you dumbshit......i never said that i wasn't going to try and test them first either...you come at this without even thinking before you speak...trying to be outspoken, rough and tough...like what you have to say should sound important to us...lighten up a bit and let people do what they want cuz from what i can see in this forum, the majority of the skiers here are wiser than you and actually have worthwhile input...wise the fuck up dude and get a life...quit being weaksauce about a mere question and stop making stupid ass assumtions about shit you know nothing about......

fuck that, they are the best in this dimension! And when god rides em he says 'wow'

so i went and checked out the ar5s this afternoon...got to touch them and see them with my own eyes...which seemed to have been an issue for the boarder...and they do look pretty rad...my only question is what's going on with the sidewalls?...they look like they haven't even been finished and they're just shaved down and kinda sketch looking...anyone got anything on that?...not ragging on the ski at all...i was just surprised by the wall and was curious...peace

I dont think the armada range will be the same, there is going to be a Tanner Pro Model .........

NH_Line:ya oakleys skis are no rumor!!!!!!!!! offffff the hook, the are coming out with the Osama Pros, and t-hall is leaving Armada to ride them, they also will come with a free bling bling necklace

Ds91260: i already got my osama pros, i stole them from a cave in afganistan

ArmadaFreerider8: Why would tanner hall leave armada after he just helped start it

ive read the other posts about armada, and people are shitting over them. people go 'they r sweet, i just bought some.' and a guy goes, 'yeah well, i might get some, do they ride nice?' the first guy goes, 'prolly, tanner skis em'......alot of u r buying them just beacause tey r new and u r more interested in lookin cool, and not how good your ski actualy is

dude...did you even read the recent posts before yours?...for real man...read a little before you make some comment like that...i posted that i had gone and seen them that afternoon...listed my biggest concern about the ski, which was not an aesthetic (how cool the ski looks) concern...stay up with the posts or something man...shit...the majority that i have read has been about how the ski rides, not who rides them and for that readson everyone should get them...this has all been said before so stop ehausting your crappy input and move on...this thread was fucken over a day or two ago...

Boardercrk9 is more right than wrong. 99% of the people on this board have no idea what they are talking about.

Tanner would ski on a 2x4 if he got paid enough money. And he would still kill it.

Pros ski on what they get paid to ski on. Period. Whether or not they are good skis have nothing to do with it. Kids are going to get mom and dad to buy them Armadas because 'everyone says they are so sick' and then be all surprised when they find out they are stiff. Why? Because all they cared about was how cool the ski was, how many people hyped em up on NS and what pros ski on them.

Summary for people to dumb to read: I'm not saying Armadas are good or bad, I'm just saying that most of the kids here focus on hype and nothing more. That makes them easy targets for marketing.

phUnk...i agree with you to an extent...yes, there is a massive amount of hype about armada, it being a skier independent company and the team that they have fielded is pretty impressive...but to use this thread (that began as a simple question of mine) to address your opinion that people are just buying armada because of all that hype...it's unnecessary...start a thread on that issue rather then clutter this one with posts that don't pertain to my questions at all...the reason i started the thread was 1. to get into a topic on the skis, 2. to figure out whether they may be ones for me to look into...i was interested and wanted to hear what people would say...yes, it's all been posted before, but why not?...so to make the assumption that we are all prepubescent teenagers looking to get noticed on the mountain for the boards we have on our feet is foolish......so i agree that many people seem to be falling for the markting strategy of the company (which makes sense and seems pretty clever since they are selling, and that's what the company wants) but to come into the thread and accuse us of being those naive individuals is ridiculous...i never said 'armadas are the greatest skis in the industry and i'm definitely going to get them...blah blah...then i'll be sweet like tanner!'...no, never saif anything like that...so to come out and say that we're all assholes...that's bullshit......i hear you when you say that the hype surrounding the ski and the company is seemingly dominating the favor of the younger target audience...but i don' think that too many of us in this thread are falling for it...i know i'm not since i just recently posted that i went and checked the ski out and thought that the sidewalls looked and felt sketch...because of that (having taken the advice of others and gone to check them out and test them later this season if i want)...i don't think i'm going to get a pair for a couple more seasons, if ever...no one can say...

so, in summary cuz that was way fucken long...yes, there is a lot of hype about armada and many people are buying into it...but i and several others on this thread are not...so let it be...peace

eh, im just tryin to find more info on em cause im sick of plowing through a pair of skis per season because the edges are gone.

well on the east coast only 1 shop had armadas last season. this season its up to something like 130. so yes, it'd say it'll be much easier to get armadas this season.

SLTskier: there are so many girls in freeskiing now have you noticed that

stowek2: yep..theres a few skilled ones...a good number who love it and want to progress, then a bunch of morons that are trying to impress the boys by wearing as little clothing as possible and as much make-up as possible on the hill

SLTskier: yeah however im one that trys to progress and impress the boys :-)

phUnk- I totally agree with you, I mean there was a lot of hype about PE's, but I can't even think of any pro's that ride the pe's, so the hype had to come from somewhere right, so i tried them, and they were sweet. Im not saying armadas suck just because all the hype comes from their team and tanner riding and winning on them, but that is what all the hype seems to be focused on.

powstash1: I wasn't accusing you specifically (sorry if it sounded like that,) I was just pointing out how the majority of the people on this board seem to operate.

PS. I'm getting TroubleMakers cuz they are green. ;)

i hear you phUnk...no worries......you're def right...people should look into the ski itself more than they look into the individuals who ride it...

Last year's ski was the '04 ski.

Mystic gets special consideration...

My local shop (www.SportsDen.com) has the 04's in and they have the same graphics as the 03's.

people forget how armada started.. pros unhappy about the way big companies treating newschool.... broke out to design and promote their own brand.. such was the creativeness of this idea that the best team in newschool started... the company haven't hyped.. they just designed the sort of ski they wanted to ski on and see in the market place.. now if that isn't a reason to check out this ski...

i'm getting them becuase i wana be rare, in new zealand no one has em so if i get them ill be one of 4 people t have em. and pros wouldn't ride shit ass skis.

'If you've got neon light's your just basically saying, im a fuckwhit!'- friend

see, this guy is getting them 'just to be rare' whatever man. and pros ski shitty skis all the time. steel spence skis for atomic......pollard skis for line.....

Hey Free-style-smoker, who is the financial backing for Armada?

Who do you think paid Tanner more, Armada or Rossi?

Armada isn't some grassroots, low budget, doing-it-for-the-love-of-the-sport kind of venture. They are financially backed by Oakley and you bet your narrow white ass that Tanner is making more cash (plus getting part of the company) by skiing for Armada.

everythings the same, bigger production run, their most likely changing the factory their pressed at for the 04-05 season from what ive heard (they get it done now up in quebec city at Zoopla Snowboards)

hey phunk do you actually know anything about armada?Or what the fuck your talking about for that matter? I love how people make these huge accusations saying armada is just like any other major ski company because they have finacial backing. How do you think companies get started? you dsopnt think there is a huge risk for someone to invest in a company like armada? I think armada is about as grassroots as it gets. Twins make up a small part of the industry as it is so you have to do what you need to do in order to survive in this industry.

About the sidewalls: what's weird about them? I'm looking at them right now and they look similar to the other ski with sidewalls(that i've seen),the Scratch, maybe they just come out a little more? Is that what you meant?

I've heard a lot about how Armadas are like the Scratches. From what i've heard, the guy who designed the scratches (not tanner hall) got a set fund from rossi to design and build this ski. It worked out well and most people liked them, but he ran out of money to spend so some bugs were left in them. He supposedly was hired by Armada, but had more money to make a refined ski. He then made what was essentially a scratch with a wood core but had all the bugs from the scratches worked out. The carbon fiber stringer was added to make the ski stiffer and bigger edges for more abuse. I've never ridden the armadas or scratches, but that's what i heard. Also, it almost sounds like it is correct because i've heard about how easily the scratch edges cracked for many people and the pressure cracks on the tips. On the armadas, these problems have seemed to be addressed.

'Cheerleaders are dancers gone retarded'

about the sidewalls...i went and checked out the ar5s at my local shop and the sidewall on the 180 looked really bare and exposed...like it could split or crack...there didn't seem to be any finish over the side of the ski and meeting the edge...it looked like it was just shaved or cut and left along...maybe they were a fucked up pair and the shop didn't even realize that it was just that pair...that was the only pair i saw though so i don't have any other armada set to compare...

Tweakers........chill out. Try skis, try many different ones. Figure out what works. Toss in other factors such as price and asthetics, durability and so on. Purchase skis. Be happy. End of story.

'can't name any pros who ski on PEs.' Wow.

A note on the sidewalls, they are SINTERED P-TEX sidewalls, not ABS, like the scratch or many other brands of skis. Sintered P-Tex is better because it is less brittle and WILL NOT CRACK. The only downside? It doesn't finish as pretty and look so shinny like ABS... whoopity doo!!!

dammmit! thank you dave and ryan!!!!

you both took the words out of my mouth... and to add to this post the ar5's are NOT very similer to the scratchs... nothing about them is the same except the shape is kinda close... there not built the same in any way... there way more like the pe's than the scratchs

oh yea i have rode both models
