Armada Norwalk

Has anyone heard anything about these skis? They look sick and seem to be a great option for backcountry, trees, steeps, and pow

I think they should of stiffened either the TST or Norwalk. Could of also made one ski with a big turning radius.

Wider TST, or a JJ with no tail rocker. Should ride well but probably still suffer from the JJ's tip deflection if the tip is the same.

It's a different tip than the JJ. It's a bit more evenly rounded (less of the pronounced taper featured on the JJ) and the contact point is more forward to increase the turn radius.

Sounds OK, but it's the very abrupt flex transition towards the nose that sucks on the JJ. Flex numbers are the same on the site but if they rounded out the pattern a bit it'll be a winner.

because they can't design a ski the save their life anymore, lie about tech that they STOLE and claimed was their own(elf shoe, 50/50 sidewall), they have been buying up patents left and right for shit they don't even use just to make other brands not able to use that tech (again, shit that they were not the originators of), etc

armada use to be cool and "core", now they are as close to burton as a ski company will get

can you guys elaborate on what youre talking about, or link me to something about it? also did someone imply that they're sort of soft (TSTs and norwalks)?

also any other info about both would be great, thanks

The TST and norwalk are kinda soft I think. I own the AR7 and it's stiff compared to most park skis. But you look at the flex pattern for all three skis, the AR7 is the stiffest. The TST I know is suppose to be a Big mnt ski but seems pretty soft for what they claim it does. I rode it last year in the chop and was getting defected in soft chop.

If your looking for a ski with the same qualities look up ON3P billy goat 2013. I ordered mine during the pre-sale. I've never got a chance to ride it but if it's as good as everyone who recommended, it's gonna be a sweet ski. I cant wait to try it.

If you want some more ideas for a bigmnt directional ski heres a couple.

Atomic Automatic- Would probably be my ski of choice if I didnt get the BG

Kastle BMX 108 or the BMX 128

Salomon Rocker 2 108

4frnt Yle

They are dozens of skis in the bigmnt category but I just listed a few that caught my eye.

4Frnt YLE is a symmetrical ski, definitely not a "bigmnt directional ski."

My vote would be for the Billy Goat. Last year's 191 was truly an amazing ski for steeps, trees, powder, and charging crud. I am looking forward to the improvements made to this year's model.

I've also heard some good things about the Atomic Automatic and would be interested in getting on a pair to compare and contrast against the Billy Goat's.

really? because their skis rip, ive never heard anything about them claiming that 50/50 was their own, just rebranding something them and atomic started at the same time. The only patent dispute ive heard is between them and rossi, which never really amounted to much. magic js look sick too, just fondled a pair

I think the big thing they (armada) tried to do was patent reverse camber/rocker technology. They said it was their "original idea".

But as anyone who knows legendary Shane McConkey was the first to ever come out with ski with rocker technology.

I believe the first mainstream ski with rocker was the K2 Pontoon.

Im probably missing information or maybe completely wrong, so if anyone knows all please correct me.

Already found out I was wrong. The first ski with rocker was Volant Spatula. Made in 2001. Thank you Wikipedia.

the spatula was shane's idea too though im pretty sure

thanks for all the info guys, keep it coming! i'm leaning more towards the TST than the norwalk but im not sure.. and im open to other suggestions like some people have made

a little off topic and kinda jacking a thread but....really confused....this is the first time ive read anything on the norwalk flex and it seems pretty soft. So will i be okay with a 189? I am 6 ft and 155 pounds. Live on the east coast and will be touring and skiing trees.

The Norwalk is not really that soft of a ski. I have both the AR7 and Norwalk and i wash out on my ar7 on mountain and groomers and I dont on my norwalks. They have carbon stingers in the tail to make it stiffer but still a soft enough tip to make it nice in the pow.

I've heard really good things about the 4frnt Cody which has similar dimensions to the TST but is a bit chargier/less jittery apparently.
