Armada JJ - Bit of a different question for once

I'm going to Niseko in January and I'm thinking about buying some JJs before I go. I'm 183cm tall so I'll go with the 185cm JJs (please correct me if you think I'm wrong with this). My problem is my burton bag is 181cm long. I reckon I can probably squeeze something that's 183cm in there but somewhere I read that the JJs are actually longer than the measurement.

Someone with JJs.....are the skis physically longer than the indicated measurement? Because if I go ahead and buy these and they don't fit in my bag I'm stuffed.

I have 185 JJ's and I use the Rossi Short Haul bag which fits skis up to 193cm. My JJ's fit in there fine, however it doesn't seem like there is much room in there length wise for more ski. The Rossi bag is only $55 with no tax and free shipping if you're interested PM me for a link.
 
If you lay them flat side by side then they will probably fit because you will lose some direct vertical length with rocker.
 
maybe bring your bag into a shop and see if they fit? I brought my skis to shops all the time to try and find a thule box that fits my cease and decists. Turns out, alot of boxes arent long enought

Just went and measured my babys just now for you! Any excuse to get them out :)

they are exactly 183 cm tip to tail

Mine are last seasons, but i don't think they have changed the shape at all

Corner to corner they might juuuust fit.

Niseko is so sick. We'll be out there late Jan - Feb.

You may just find that the JJs are a bit skinny on the truly epic days...
 
if it doesnt fit and you dont wanna buy a new bag, cut off the end, get some extra cloth, and sew like and extension onto the bag. i've never done this but it seems like it would work out as long as you avoided cutting near the zipper and if you sewed it really good. you could prob even take it to any tailor and as them to sew an extension onto the bag for a couple bucks
 
Hey I'm actually going with a group of 5 from Mammoth out to Niseko last week of Jan/first week of Feb, when will you be around?

To stay on topic, I actually just bought a pair of AK JJ's and my bag only goes to 190. My friend at Armada says the length is pretty on point so I've been having fun looking for 200cm bags. I found most ski racing sites have them in order to accommodate DH/SG skis.

PM me if you'll be out there that same time, we should shred!
 
I almost did this! I cut a hole in my skibag and then wrapped a old t-shirt around the tip of the skis sticking out and duct taped it all together! Worked perfectly until I got hold of a new bag.
 
Yeah that's when I'll be there. 15th Jan to the 3rd Feb. Purple armada pants, purple and black armada jacket, white giro shiv. And with any luck, 2012 JJs haha.
 
Yeah I have one of those padded burton wheelie bags. Best bag I've ever owned. And from the sounds of it they'll fit in there, even though the bag is only "181cm long".
 
If you can get a new bag, dakine makes a real decent 200 wheelie bag. Check out evo. You cab prob find one in the outlet for cheap.
