Armada ARVw.. Any thoughts?

My girlfriend need some new skis this season, and ive been given the job to find some for her. After some research on the web i think i'll suggest the ARVw's to her, but ive never heard anyone trying them, and i dont know much about skis for women..

My girlfriend is quite new to the twin-tip world, but i know she's looking for some skis she can use to just ride normally in the groomers, but thats also a playful ski, and a ski she can hit the park with..

So, have anyone of you tried the ARVw or know someone who has? Anyone know about other skis for women that I should take a look at? Any thoughts?

ARVw is new this year. So there aren't any real skier reviews yet. It comes in only 165cm length. Has a 89mm waist. Doesn't turn that quick. This is a all mtn more pow kinda ski. The dif between ARV and ARVw is the ARVw has an ultra light core. It is made for light skiers....usually the ladies. A finese sk / skier . Don't know ur gfriend's weight height, athletic ability but for general sking and groomers and starting out consider the Cantika by Armada - more durable, turms easier. I haven't looked at them yet, but the Line Celebrity is really popular and you can find last years brand new for $199 if you google them. Similar dimensions too.

You say that the ARVw is more all mtn/powder ski, but on armadaskis.com it says its more of a park/groomers/pipe ski (10 out of 10 points), and not that much big mountain/powder (only 7 out of 10 points). Im not questioning your knowledge, Im just wondering where youve gotten your info from :P..

And my girlfriend is a good skier (she has skied since she were 5 or something, but not twin-tip), and is very strong.. So i dont think she'll have a problem skiing a "difficult" ski..

I have no skied the ARVw, but I have skied both the 06/07 165 ARV and 07/08 166 ARW. Both are great skis.

The ARV is one of the funnest skis I've ever owned (tied with my anthem octos and pandoras from this year). ARV is truly fun everywhere. I loved this ski even in park. It was pretty floppy, but that made it fun and I had no problems holding an edge even on ice. It's also very fun in soft snow - wouldn't consider it a powder ski, but for a one-ski quiver, this is great and I regret selling mine.

The ARW I only demoed but it was quite possibly the funnest skis I've ever tried. I demoed them last year and they were crazy light, even with demo bindings. They are poppy and lively and kill it on groomers. I was recently given a pair so I'm stoked to be skiing these more.

I'd say either would be a great choice, but it really comes down to how much fresh snow she'll be getting. If you get a decent amount, go ARVw. If she'll be skiing almost entirely groomers, then go ARW.
