only read some of the first page, but i would like to point out that farm owners who pay illegals under minimum wage should held acountable because they contribute to the problem just as much as illegal immigrants coming over the border
 
Id like to point out that illegal immigrants actually help the economy in some ways. They do work for less than minimum wage, letting companies save money that they make in profits. Thus helping the economy.

But then again, you are using crappy youtube comedians to make your political points, you probably dont understand how much of this is the US's fault.
 
when you look at it from this perspective it is not right to give law enforcement permission to racial profile, and is unconstitutional for them to treat any "citizen" unfairly in regards to the law, stated by the equal protection clause included in the 14th amendment.
 
i am cool with mexican immigration. And by mexican immigration i literally mean mexican immigration. I go over to mexico to drink beer, fight chickens, piss in their oceans, and party until the sun comes up. I am cool with them coming over to make a buck, but if they come over illegally and break the law then there is no stopping what will happen to them.
 
true but remember when mccain made that statement about how no americans would work for $50/hr picking lettuce in a field...? i don't know about you but i sure as hell would.

i agree we should strip them of their opportunities but i don't think that will deter them. i'm not a fan of illegal immigrants coming into our country and taking from us, it's not fair that they get covered and some working americans don't.
 
im not a fan of them either. i wish they would come in legally or not at all.

but

a) this law that AZ just passed is absurd. its legalizing racial profiling, and encouraging it. theres no other way around it.

b) i think its important that we learn how much of this is our fault in the US (read the part about nafta on the bottom of the last page, drew has a pretty good summation of it that i added a bit to), and how americans who "belong here" are just as guilty by hiring them, but face none of the blame.

i think there are other better ways to combat illegal immigration than a law that just is going to lead the harassment of any brown dude in AZ.
 
also read my criticism.

if mexico cannot compete with world labor prices without trade barriers. how would they be fairing now if there were trade barriers. IE NOONE (or an even greater number) would use their population as a labor force.

maybe im missing something though. but even my PHD holding international business teacher said i pose a good question with that.

that said, farm subsidies need to end. coming from someone with family in the business. it needs to end. just like the other subsidies.

ide also like to add, that in my experiences working with illegal immigrants. white Americans wont do the work. the only workers my boss can get to show up at 1am to shovel snow are Mexicans. i love it cause he pays good, but im usually one of two white people there.
 
they help more than hurt, they take up jobs that other Americans could be filling, and when they come here illegally they dont speak English and have no sense to obey our laws or rules here....I'm not racist towards any hispanics at all but if your going to come to America do it the right way.......and yes we are alot at fault as Americans too for hiring them....Just goes to show ya people will do anything for the almighty dollar

lets address this first, there's an array of things

First of all, lets be quite honest. A large portion of American citizens would never want those jobs, they think they are above them. That not to say no one would, but its not nearly the issue you think it is.

Additionally, this again goes back to largely blame the EMPLOYERS. Of course they employ illegals, they can do it for under minimum wage, with no benefits whatsoever. You don't like it? Get out there and start reporting people that are hiring illegals. Oh, but its so much easier to just blame the brown fella than your "fellow white man".

They don't speak English.

First off, huge generalization. There are plenty that do speak English. On top of that tons of people don't speak English, it's not just illegal immigrants from Mexico. Not to mention, they are probably working 12-15 hour days, and taking care of their families. Not a lot of time to get to class to learn the language, so they pick up what they can. In fact, America doesn't even have an official language. And according to the census bureau, 96% of Americans claim to speak it "well". IF its really an issue, why not take the time to learn some basic Spanish. Again, nope, its easier to just blame the brown fellow.

Finally, they have no sense to obey our laws or rules?

That's just idiocy. There are plenty, in fact the MAJORITY, of illegal immigrants are law abiding citizens, aside from how they entered the country. There is really nothing more to say about this issue than that.
 
And again, I am in no way supporting illegal immigration. It needs to be stopped.

But there are better, more constructive ways to do it, than absurd laws like in NZ, or demonizing them when it just isn't true.
 
There are 2 types of mexicans in america today.

Type 1: Dumb ass gangster assholes they bring in drugs and all other kinds of bullshit. Deport them. All of them

Type 2: Nice, quiet, hard working immigrant (illegal or not) that make $2.00 and hour and works 16 hour days. Do not deport them. No 1 else is going to do the jobs they do.

If you know a dark person with hispanic heritage and he doesnt fit into these 2 catagories he/she is american.

 
I don't mind if they come to our country to work and such, but go back when you are done. Something needs to be done and good for Arizona for stepping up to reality. Im not racist but I do hate to see people not doing shit and taking advantage of our country.
 
If you come to America illegally, you are taking advantage of our country for one example. If one comes to get money illegally for family in home country, is taking advantage. I could go on and on, perhaps you will learn more as u get older when you see more of life. Have you ever been to California or down south? Its pretty obvious. Luckily MOntana is too cold for them to take over...
 
my grandma used to live in southern california, forget the name of the city, but she moved out because it was pretty much being taken over my mexicans. in some of the shittier neighborhoods in that area and other parts of socal, the mexican gang's literally take over the neighborhood, they threaten the black or asian families, and there have been so many cases of them killing the kids, mothers, even whole families. the mexican gangs are just pieces of shit.

last summer we were in cali and we went and looked at her old neighborhood, and its completely turned to shit, we went into a wal mart there and there was trash everwhere, the parking lots were full of shopping carts all over the place, nobody puts an ounce of effort into putting them away or throwing away their trash, even the inside of the store had trash all over, almost everyone was overweight, extremely impolite and they were just shitty people.

i hate to be racist, but her town which used to be a great place to live 15 years ago, was completely turned to shit, only because of mexicans.

i have a friend who's highschool is like 60% mexican, tons of them have parents who are illegal's. anyway his best friend got beat up by 4 big ass mexicans for bumping into him in a hallway. and this type of shit happens all the time in that school.

i dont care how racist i sound, but i do hate mexicans, basically everything they touch in this country turns to shit, i dont think ive ever heard of a case where mexicans taking over the population resulted in something positive.

now i do know some good mexicans, hell one of my good friends is. but 99% of the time, they arent.

 
did i ever say that ALL mexicans are part of gangs? and even for the ones that arent, like i said, ive never seen a town where the population became mostly mexican and seen any good come from it.

just look up any statistic, i am pretty sure that they are in line with what i say:

criminals (easy to identify by people in jail) of course consist in large parts of latinos and black people.

but to say that latinos and black people are violent, drug dealing and stabbing fuckers is wrong and ignorant. they are unlucky to be raised in such unstable and dangerous surroundings and believe it or not, but there are also white criminals. somehow the recent cases in the likes of bernie madoff and all the other wall street criminals fucked up waaay more people as all black and latinos together.
 
i sorta agree,

every race has their own flaws, stereotypes exist for a reason, because they are true, not always, but alot of the time they are. we are not all equal, thats bullshit, we arent even close.

black's are good at sports, alot of them join gangs, listen to rap, wear baggy clothes, are uneducated, mexicans are usually not very educated, probably came here illegally, violent, work hard but at the same time are lazy, white people are nerds, care way too much about money, when they have power they abuse it,(nazi's, politicans, etc..) and if they dont have money they are rednecks. asians are nerdy, love technology, passive, good at acrobatics etc.. obviously these arent always true, but usually there is a good chance they are, and a better chance of being true when compared to another race that doesnt have that stereotype.

if i was living in germany in the 1940's and i saw a nazi walking down the street, theres a good chance id think he's a bad person, just like if i see a random mexican in southern california, most the mexican stereotypes most likely fit him.

its not racist, its just basing your opinion off of facts.

if you line up a black guy in huge clothing, a white guy in a suit, and a mexican in shitty clothing and ask me who i think stabbed a guy, id pick the mexican or the black guy and there is a very good chance that id be right.

do the same thing and ask me who i think is a dirty politician who abused his power, im gonna pick the white guy and theres a very good chance id be right.

 
ok you seem more intelligent to me (although i think you had a typo in your germany/nazi paragraph), but still, its very dangerous if the mass thinks like that.

because not much people see that stereotypes are stereotypes and not necessarily the truth.

and i think that you explained stereotypes very well. they are some sort of psychological effect to spare our brain to analyse every situation/person
 
a) you are still making massive generalizations

b) you need to understand why minorities end up living up to those stereotypes. and ill give you a hint. its not because of their race

Why does everyone complain about learning spanish? I took 3 years of it in high school and it wasn't so hard.
In most other countries in the world, the populations speak more than one language, sometimes up to 5 is considered normal.
If you live in Switzerland, chances are you speak german and french fluently, as well as english, and then likely italian.
Chances are, if you are complaining about spanish, it is likely the spanish you are complaining about speak more english than you do spanish.

I live in SoCal. My university consisted of more mexican/latinos than white kids. One of my really good friends is an illegal BRITISH immigrant. I live in little Tokyo... my grocery store has plasma screens everywhere playing techno music with legal asian grandma's that don't speak any english.

I can agree that we need to change our immigration laws and make it more difficult to stay here illegally, but you dont need to bitch about stereotypes that are rarely true.

You used Europe as an example. Compare the pure landmass size of most European countries and the amount of different languages that surround a country like lets say Switzerland or Luxemborg and then look at the United States.... Canada and Mexico border us..... and We are MUCH bigger than Mexico as well. Europeans know a ton of language out of necessity (my gf from France knows French, German, English, and Latin) whereas in the States English is all you need. Until you get to the deep south and need a damn dictionary for when you want a burger.
 
yeah, in the germanspeaking world, among people under 40, chances are pretty good that everybody UNDERSTANDS english and can speak it decently. a lot of people also speak french, italian and russian or dutch for tourism reason where i live.

word. the german exchange student i stayed with spoke french, english, german (obviously), and for some odd reason his school required latin...
 
yeah, a lot of schools teach latin here in germany/austria. its for people who want to study medical science, biology, history, etc...

and i talked to a latin teacher a while ago and he (obviously is biased, but) said that its so different from our languages (although german and french also have different roots) so its a real good "training" for the brain...
