ARG much better than JJ in pow?

im just wondering from people who have skied both. is the ARG so much better than the JJ in pow to sacrifice awesome all mountain shredding? i have the jay's and am gunna try out the ARG's catskiing, thinking of getting them.

thankss

I have both. The ARG is better. So if you are looking fro just a pow ski, get the ARG, if you want a ski for those deep days and the days it only snows 2-4" get the JJs.

Surprisingly the ARG is great too for spinning because all the weight is under your feet.

With that said, I am selling My ARGs because I want one less skis to maintain in my quiver.

i have never skied either. but if you have a ski for groomers and does okay in small amounts of powder like the S3, and you do deep powder Cat/Heli back country run get the ARG's. But for smaller amounts of powder and groomers get the JJ's.

Reverse sidecut skis(I count ARGs as reverse, 1mm isn't going to drag and the flat spot adds stability in pow actually) will be much 'better' than skis with lots of sidecut in pow. JJs have like a 14m turn radius or something tiny like that, so they have A LOT of sidecut over at least 1/2 the ski.

By 'better', I mean you can smear them super well and they aren't hooky. Some people like hooked in turns in pow, and with the JJs taper that will be easy. So both will be good, but my preferance would be ARGs(not to mention landing cliffs with the bigger waist is nice). The JJs also have plenty of camber, which(based on how Chetlers skied) will make them super poppy turn to turn in pow, but will also dig the tips in a bit, so even more locked in feeling(although getting out of turns isn't going to be hard like it can be in pow on park skis).

viva la gorda. i have arg's and i can honestly say when it comes to riding powder, it wins everytime. super floaty, ridiculously easy to turn and handle, great for riding switch, and they boost you off of every little pillow. ya, the jj is more versitile for those days where there's only a few inches and you wanna charge through the crap, but the arg is a better powder ski.

In tree skiing Pow ARG is 10/10

In tree skiing Pow JJ is 8/10

Open faces I would Give them both 9/10

No way, I would give the ARGs at least 2 better than JJs on actual faces(not counting 30 yard long spaces in trees) and it's great in trees with powder because it's pretty short. At mellower billy goat lines with lots of technical objects, but not something skied at speeds, I would give the JJs a better rating than ARGs but not by a ton.

Open powdery faces with some features and cliffs on reverse sidecut skis is the best thing ever skiing wise,.

The reason why the ARG is not as good at the open faces is because of speed. The ARG is more of a smear turn ski and at fast speeds smear turns dont cut it on open faces.

In trees its the best.

I would call that preferance. I personally can control them at higher speeds on faces, however I really prefer my 202 Lotus 138s(mounted at like -13, makes the smearing turns stable and with easier control, and more from the tail than underfoot vs. mounted near center like most reverse sidecut skis, which pivot/smear more from underfoot) on faces over ARGs. And smeary turns can for sure cut it in open spaces(look at McConkey!) but I do get what you're saying, it's not like ARGs are my prefered ski there, just prefered over JJs.

JJs are just too turny for my liking I guess, a longer JJ with less sidecut would probably be more of what I was looking for as far as partly normal sidecut skis(or, more like 195s S7s or Lotus 120s)
