Are we set for a poor winter in the west (el nino)

Hearing rumours of a poor season out west in places like whistler, similar to last year, due to the el nino weather patters.

What we saying?

Please stop making threads about how the winter is going to be.

We will not know how good the winter is until its over, just get stoked that its coming, stop worrying if its going to be "good" there is absolutely nothing you can do to change it so embrace it.

I'll tell you what man, that's what I've been hearing too and I really hope we don't. Having a shitty winter would suck, it's bad enough we can only do the sport we all love most during the winter months.

I'm also tired of these threads. I don't think there is nothing people can do about it though. Last winter was actually really "good" in my opinion. The weather got me to go for some hikes a ski some lines I wouldn't have if there was more snow. People that think they need the 'right' conditions to have fun are missing out.

I get that! not what I was getting at really, not stressing too much. Gonna be in Whistler and never had a bad time there! Perfect season to hit the park and the pubs.

Honestly not stressing just curious for opinions. It's snowing in whistler so stoked

I feel like you don't know exactly what the el nino is.......

I think you're confusing el nino with la nina. El nino is an irregularly occurring and complex series of climatic changes affecting the equatorial Pacific region and beyond every few years, characterized by the appearance of unusually warm, nutrient-poor water off northern Peru and Ecuador, typically in late December. So from that you often end up with alot of pineapple express systems coming from Hawaii like you did last year. Where as La nina is a cooling of the water in the equatorial Pacific that occurs at irregular intervals and is associated with widespread changes in weather patterns complementary to those of El Niño, but less extensive and damaging in their effects.

But let's all chill out here and be thankful thank atleast you get to slide on some snow. And let's all chill with what the winter is going to bring. No one can really predict what the winter will be like. How many times has someone called for a warm winter and it turned out nipple deep pow for days???

Cheers for the genuine reply.

Also ^ to the above commenter. Gonna be skiing all the time so don't worry about how much I am skiing man

I can stop eating animal products and braid my pit hair, so I wouldn't say there is "absolutely nothing" I can do about it...

Thanks for the good laugh, I haven't laughed that hard in years.

El Nino is about to rub out a massive load on whistler this weekend. MASSIVE LOAD!

You know what they say about people who predict weather...They suck cock

Isn't Whistler supposed to get dumped on this weekend or right now? So far this winter in mammoth is triple what is was this time last year.

FUCK YOU AND YOUR NEGATIVE OPINIONS, ITS GON BE LIT OUT HERE ON THE BEST COAST, I'VE GOT LIKE 5 DAYS SO FAR, EVEN THO STUFF ISNT FULLY OPEN

El Nino is not a weather pattern. It's an ocean current that brings in warmer water. It does not automatically depict a bad winter as some of the worst seasons on record for the west coast have been non El Nino seasons, and some of the best seasons on record have been El Nino years.

I mean from what I heard it seems like there off to a good start so far I mean aren't they supposed to get like 110 cm on Sunday or something like that so don't jump the gun so much
