So i was fooling around on my friends pvc pipe and i slipped and fell right on one of them, so basicall all my weight landed on my upper ribs. They didnt really hurt that much at the time, the only thing that hurt was when i tried lifting up my arm above my head.

My Rib BARELY hurts when i breath or poke it, but it looks bruised, and it hurts alot when i try to lift my arm up above my chest. Any idea if its cracked, or just bruised?

yup. I once had costochondritis and it felt like I was having a heart attack/dying-- i imagine cracked ribs would be pretty painful too

i have a cracked rib, its awful. it spasmin in and out of little spurts of pain when i case a landing or pick something heavy up and i cracked it 4 weeks ago. i bet yours i just brused, just ice it up!

it might have just popped out. it's happened to me multiple times, just go to a physical therapist or maybe a chiropractor and they can pop it back in

as soon as i saw that this thread didn't have a picture i knew there was going to be no definite answers

bruised. i have had the exact feeling and it wasnt broken. i wouldnt worry to much about it. just takes a few weeks to get back to 100%

i donno...i bruised my ribs pretty badly and it hurt a shit ton immediately and breathing was the most painful thing possible. but go to a damn doctor! people need to stop just asking nsg for medical advice

i find it hard to trust the phrase "if it was, you'd know" for example, my bro snapped his collar bone last summer and went two days thinking it was just swollen and painful cause thats where he collided with the log (he ate shit while biking), finally went to the doctor and found out it was broken.

Also on a distantly related subject, in referance to hearing a bear in the woods, people always say "if it was a bear, you'd know"... one day someones gonna get messed up cause they didnt think the bear sounded like a bear. I mean any time i've run into a bear, it wasn't all that damn loud.

Why don't you see a healthcare professional, rather then asking a bunch of 14 year olds? I got hit in the ribs in rugby, hurt to breathe, move my arm, cough, anything like that was excruciating. Went to the doctor, they did x-rays and such, nothing was broken. What did happen however, is I damaged/tore some of the small muscles and cartilage in between my ribs. The doctor said that this would be more painful then actually breaking my ribs. If you have to ask, go see a doctor.

Yup its a few days later and my ribs are feeling alot better, i guess the rule of thumb is that if they dont hurt when you breathe they probable arent cracked
