Are there tornados in Europe?

yes, they do, but there aren't said "typhoon belts" (atleast im not aware of any) but they do happen and they do cause damage

they happen all over the world but due to the US position on the globe and the mixing of different fronts, we are most prone to tornadoes....

from what i know, we have a few/year in Belgium, but usually just as powerful as in ripping ou trees/powerlines/rooftops, etc...
nowhere near as powerful as the stuff you have in th US...

yea we get the shit end, eathquakes in LA, tornados in midwest, Canes on the coast. God has been doing us dirty. Atleast he got rid of most the dangerous animals

there are storms yes, but not that much and they dont cause much damage...

...because we have fucking restrictions on building houses. i am not saying that all american houses are build of cardboard, but when you see those clips from tornado/hurrican destructions and how the pieces on the floor look like, i wouldnt say that they reach european standards.

in austria you even have to prove that your house can support 4 ft of snow on its roof and stuff like that.

may sound ignorant, but i get this feeling through media coverage. maybe its more intelligent to build cheaper houses and rebuild them every 5 yrs or so, instead of investing mad money on a "real" house (which also could be destroyed in a very unlucky situation).

As Feihlination said, most European countries have very strict standards for building houses. You can build a 4x4m room out of plaster, but you can't live in it legally.

We have tornadoes as well, but mostly ones in non-hazardous areas and cutting down trees and phone lines etc.

The US Tornado Alley is a very unique climate globally.

Very rarely - but it is a fact that the USA is pretty much the only place on earth with the right meteorological conditions to generate the BIG tornadoes.... the crazy wizard of oz shit....
It's actually quite remarkable this fact. The hot moist air from the gulf of mexico, meets the still cold air coming off the spring mountains in the rockies and boom - they have a huge party.....
No where else has those types of extremes of conditions....

This is a kinda off-the-mark question... but do you know if Indians have any recordings of large tornadoes?

i would like to think that they werent very prone to these damages, given their nomadic lifestyle.

i guess they could pack everything they had and leave within a few hours
