Are the ARGs a ski of the past?

I'm looking for a pow ski for Utah, and I'm not sure which is better. All I see in edits and in movies is Armada riders are on the JJs skiing pow. why not the args? are the ARGs a ski of the past?

Correct me if I am wrong, but the ARG is a HUGE ski. A JJ is most likely lighter and much easier to throw around in the BC. Unless you plan on skiing 5ft. or more every pow day, I would get the JJ, then when everything is all tracked out, the JJ will cruise right through crud.

For Tree Pow action there is no better tool . Period.

Plus they are great for spinning off of cliffs because all the weight is under foot.

Only get them though if you are using them for the deep pow days. I have both and i use the JJs when there is 1-6" of new pow or if it is a couple of days after the storm and I really have the hike around and search for the pow or if we are building a kicker.

ARG's are BOMBER in crud. they are stiff as hell and have a small tip, so they just mash through crud. Personally i use them on any day 4" and up because they make it feel like it's twice as deep. they have an instant pivot point on them so they are super good in tight situations, but u can CHARGE on them as well cause they are soo stable. THe one thing is, when dropping big cliffs, to flatter landings, they don't sink in as much as most other skis, cause they are fat under boot, which makes for slightly harder landings. But who cares, 99% of people on this site don't ski legit 20+ ft cliffs anyways. JJ's are more versatile, because they can rail groomers, but honestly, i get bored with groomers, when ever there is any fresh snow. Also the poppiest ski ever, u ollie on them in pow and you just shoot out, its sooo fun, they ski super well switch, and are fun to jib around on. Just know that if you get them, u WILL NOT be dissapointed.

i have arg's and im only 5'11 150 lbs so its not like it takes a burly man to handle them. sure, they could be more versitile like the jj's, but when it comes to having a 2 ski quiver than they're perfect because you pretty much arent gonna break them out unless there's a substantial amount of fresh, and when there is, the arg rocks my world.

Ya, I think that if you have the ARG it needs to be a 3 ski quiver and not a 2 ski. One for park/urdan, one for Deep pow (ARG) and one for the days when you are not to sure how much fresh you might find but you still want to explore the mountain and check out the park.

Couldnt of said this better. I love my arg's and like he said i rode them everyday there was 5 or more inches of snow.

arg's are super pow specific, but absolutely KILL IT in pow and crud and pillows and everything related to that whereas jj's kill it in every condition but the powder performance won't be as good as arg's. it's a question of whether or not you want pow specific performance or versatility

I don't think so, I view the ARG as a Big Mountain ski and the JJ as a Backcountry Jib ski, I don't think a ski like the JJ would last on some of the mountains in Alaska, so that's where the ARG comes in.

I like what I'm hearing, and for some facts about me I'm looking for just a pow ski I'm 5'11'' 190 so I think the skis will do me just fine.

but one thing can they butter well?

Having flexed both, (same year) I can say that the ARG is softer. They are meant for "surfing" super deep pow, whereas the JJs are made for everything. If your gonna ski somewhere where there's tons of fresh, get th ARG.

I like my ARG's. Just putting that out there. Floaty, light, sexy, sleek, and weirddddd compared to most other skis. Get a lot of attention and questions! haha

PS, I have a three ski quiver (Troublemaker, Brigade BC, ARG) so the whole needing a ski for the park, a ski for everyday, and a pow ski is covered for me... IDK, just putting that out there. haha

Otherwise, the ARG's are pointless, although skid turns can be interesting with the rocker... Sliding out the back end of the skis when trying to initiate a turn can be fun. And flippin scary!

Good choice. You getting this years? Just wondering. I guess the graphic is uh, interesting... IMO at least.

I guess so were last years... A squid holding a fat man? wtf

i lovvvvve mine.

im a pretty small guy at 5'7 135 and i can ski anything with them wittout too much difficulty. even when theres an inch of snow its wayyy fun. i know that doesnt sound possible, but its true haha. i couldnt imagine a better powder ski personally.
