AR7 mounting point

Sorry, I know theres a ton of threads talking about AR7s, but I gotta get some input. I just bought some AR7s online, and they're currently being shipped. I know the recommended mounting points are 2.5 and 5 cm back, and I'm pretty sure I want to go with 2.5. I pretty much spend all my time in the park when I'm not skiing with my family, but I still love to charge down choppy runs, ski moguls, whatever, especially when I head to Colorado. I understand that the AR7s handle groomers well, but how do they ski everything else mounted at 2.5 cm back?

I disagree with the posts above me...a small amount back, maybe 2CM won't cause huge problems. I have Chronics at minus 2.5 and they are fine on rails and feel a lot more stable on groomers than centermounted skis. If you are going to be skiing in the park more than 70% of the time I would go center, but it really is nice to have some performace all over the mountain

I'm running a one ski quiver...so I need it to ski well. I'm not going to mount it dead center just because I don't want to fight the natural carve of the ski. The swing weight of the extra ski in front of the binding shouldn't be a big deal for me in the park since my biggest spin so far is only a 7, and only 450 off rails. Right now I'm rocking 6 year old Rossi sprayers mounted like 7 cm back...haha. So 2.5 back will be a huge improvement in that department.

-2.5 for sure. Don't listen to all the park rats in here. It will make so little difference you will not notice at all in the park, but it will make them ski better everywhere else. I skied my AR6s mounted -2.5 for 4 seasons and had no problems at all in the park, and they were still functional outside the park. I would only center mount if you ski 100% park, all the time, and don't care about actual functionality of the ski outside the park.

Thanks dude. I wasn't worried at all about it affecting me in the park, I just wanted to make sure I could still tear up the whole mountain since I ski pretty aggressively outside the park. When you say "functional", do you mean they ski pretty damn well, or good enough?

mounted mine at -1.5 and ski 70 all mtn and they ski like a dream, good switch and foward and they are verry stable and i that it does not fight the side cut at all
