I just would like to hear a couple peoples experience because i have a list of about 6 colleges and i have no idea what i would like to do, but i want to apply to stanford and i have about a 20% chance to get in, in my opinion if i apply early.

I have a list of schools that i can easily get into if i apply early or normal.. WHAT SHOULD I DO

helps plz

Apply to the schools you want dude. It'll be expensive, but it's worth having some buffer schools. You never know, 3 months from now you'll visit a school you were only kind of thinking about and fall in love with it. And you'll be pissed if you didn't put in an application. I was pretty much set on going to one school, but I just applied to a few others. I ended up going with my 3rd choice just because I changed my mind.

find out about standford's early decision policy. but you can apply on the early decision to stanford, and apply normally to other schools that you have a better chance of getting into. and if you get into stanford, you'll have to either decide to go there early (around january) or sometimes just by applying on the early decision basis you'll be committed to going there if you're accepted. so a bit more info on their policy and i could help you out more. i plan on doing early decision to UC berkely or some school like that that i probably can't get into.

early decision vs early application.

if you apply early decision to stanford, youre locked in to going to that school if they accept you. unless you have a major issue with funds to pay for it and then you have to talk to the dean or something to get out of the school.

early application is just to apply early, you still have all the choice to go there or not, but it lets them know that you are really wanting to go to that school, which also gives you a boost in chances of being accepted.

Yeah early applications are usually binding, but what would they do to you if you don't go. Probably not a good thing to try but still, they can;t like arrest you, but they could tell every other college what you did. If you REALLY want to go, do early admission and hope you get in. If you're not like 99% sure you wanna go there, don't if it's binding.

the thing is that stanford has early action so its not binding....

so that is the thing that is making it hard

when i was applying to schools i looked at it like this, if you apply early action the schools sees you have a big interest in them, and will most likely except you if your up to par, however they will most likely give you less money becasue they know that you really want to attend there school and will spend a few more g's

yea these are all really awesome but what im looking for is someones experiance applying somewhere early action and then not getting in and then going through the process of applying normally after not getting in early action without much time
