Apple WWDC - New MBP, OSX, iOS6

omg. do want. did they finally not include a disc drive? discs are ancient now bro. I really can't wait for solid state to be come better and affordable like discs are now.

neither can I. SSD's are fucking incredible, I wish I had one in my computer

Siri in BMW, GM, Land Rover, Mercedes, Audi, Jag, Honda Toyota within 12 months.

Siri on iPad

well not that i had any doubt before really, but i now i know what my current 15inch mbp will be getting replaced with for sure.

is there a link to the actual keynote video anywhere yet? I wouldnt mind actually watching it instead of reading through that whole thing.

pretty sick. usb 3.0/hdmi output are the best new features

I'm saying that because i use a macbook air which already has a ssd and amazing display

I'm just mad I got a laptop before they started putting in the new i cores. my computer edits photos and video just fine but it'd be better thats for sure.

The only thing that really impressed was the ridiculous resolutions on the new MBP and the Siri integration.

Everything else, especially with iOS6, just seems like a rehashed ICS.

From the Keynote:

“I find it incredible that we’ve already sold more than 365 million iOS devices through the end of March.” And more than 80% of the install base are running the latest version of iOS, iOS 5. Oh boy, here comes the Android jab. Ouch, over 75% of Android devices still run 2.3. Only 7% of Android customers are running the latest version 4.0.

Solid first step into rentina displays for laptops. USB 3.0, hdmi and two thunderbolts... pretty sick. im guessing they're completely phasing out disc drives, but thats okay, who buys CDs anymore?

That isn't really Google's fault. They have to deal with a bunch of phone manufactures who all like to have their own custom android experience (Touchwiz, sense, etc). Google has released the ICS source code which then allows different manufactures(Samsung, Motorola, HTC, etc) to port these to their devices and update them.

Apple on the other hand is in charge of manufacturing and development so they only have to make iOS run on a handful on devices (iPhones and iPads).

As you can see it is a little easier for able to push their iOS updates when they are in charge of all the steps. Google on the other hand is only responsible for one part of the process and has to rely on manufactures to push these updates to their customers.

Apple does have the advantage over Android in that regard. But it is more of the phone manufactures/carriers faults for being lazy and not pushing updates that are ready to their customers.

Hope that all made sense.

Still iOS = rehashed ICS

120 gigs? that's enough. store your data on a cheap external USB 3.0 drive, copy your work to the SSD, and work with it there. you get the cheap storage of a HDD with the performance and reliability of a SSD

i have a 750gb hard drive on my laptop, but i still only use 100-200gbs of it, havent you ever heard of an external HD? All you need to keep on your laptop are music and documents. Pick up a 50 dollar 500gb usb portable HD.

128gb SSD for your system files and applications

320gb+ HDD for your music, documents, photos, videos, media, etc, etc

Best way to run any computer.

yea i see what your saying, i wouldnt go that way myself, but for most people that would be fine. Ive got 253.63 gb music in my itunes alone, which is number thats constantly increasing, and i hate having to constantly go back and forth from hd to hd in one library.

you have 250 gigs of music? dude, i bet you listen to maybe 50gigs of that in a given month.. put the rest on an external, easy.

i have an my old 250gb hd that came with my mpb with almost all of it on there, but i really do need to get another bigger drive

yea 30,000 songs with the majority of it being 320k or lossless. I could do what your saying, but im happy with my internal 7200rpm 750gb, and i just like to always have all of my music availible. Sure i dont listen to all of it, but i never know if im gunna want to listen to something that i might end up putting on another drive. Ill just stick with my big hd, until the large ssds come down in price.

which will be in the next year or two, I bet the next gen of MBPs will come with 500gb SDDs standard.

they've been saying that the past year or two. SSDs are gonna be spendy for a while...flash memory is simply more costly to make than a spinning platter.

oh well, apple will have a huge edge on the PC laptop market if they all come with standard SDDs

the other thing is i don't want to have to walk around with externals to carry data. If it was that necessary, i'd consider some type of cloud storage. that'd only be an issue if i couldn't access internet.

I got an 22inch IBM t221 monitor from 11 years ago that is 3840x2400....

Disappointed the 13inch MBP's are still 1280x800.

If you are on a 13 inch, you are more likely using it for general school/laptop stuff.

If you are on the 15 inch and willing to fork over the 2200 to have a nicer display, you had better be damn sure you are doing something to make the $400 price difference worth it. Anyone who is paying that is likely someone with a profession in digital media, in which a 13 inch would be a pain in the ass.

Lol. 50 gigs of music is literally a worth month of music. he wud have to put the entire collection on a nonstop playlist to listen to it all.

*sigh* too bad Apple computers are slowly becoming oversized iPads. It's great if you have money and can afford such novelty; bad if you actually wish to get work done, although retina does look promising.

saying i already have hdmi out, ssd, 10gb ram, 700gb hardrive and the i7 dual core proecessor, and spent less than half of their price.

i'm happy. and not impressed.

haha if your listening to shit 128ks. it would take only 2 days to listen through 50gbs of music if it all was in lossless format.

That's a pretty sick display. I must ask though, is it worth throwing your old macbook out the window and getting this one?

I have no issues with my current macbook for my current needs. I browse the internet, edit photos, and play some games. Why are we so easily convinced that a utility can be our passion? a passion worth spending large sums of money very often. I think it is terribly intrinsic and hedonistic.
