Apex Ski Boots (and other two part boot systems) opinions/experience?

Hey everyone,

I was browsing around at new boots and possibly and a backcountry setup, and was wondering if anyone had any experience or knowledge with Apex Ski Boots? How do they feel? How do they ski? Are they worth the hefty price tag, or are they just a gimmick?

For those unaware, this is an Apex boot: hard outer shell with a removable "soft" inner boot (which I've actually heard can be used as a stiff, expert level snowboard boot.)

One if my fellow instructors has them. He likes them cause he can switch between skiing and boarding without taking a boot off (which instructors do like every hour). Also says its to soft to really ski in and has a hard time really driving or powering a ski with them. For how much they cost would not really recomend.

Another potential issue is that they have really long bootsole lengths compared to other boots, so there's a good chance you'll need to remount your skis.

Assuming this is a troll thread. Go to a boot fitter and get boots that fit. My ski boots are more comfortable than most of my regular shoes.

Haha that's what I thought. Truthfully my ski boots are fine, I was just curious about these because I had seen them advertised a few times. But now I see why I've never seen anyone with them haha

I do see them having a place for beginner/intermediates that just want to cruise the greens and blues who just don’t want to deal with painful boots. But I can’t see them performing anywhere close to a stiff, traditional shell boot. Think I’d rather try Atomics rear entry boots coming next season.

I honestly wasn't sure about these so thanks guys. They keep popping up on my Facebook ads but have never seen then anywhere and now I know why haha.

To be honest my boots are fine (Nordica GPX 110s that fit great with plenty of days left), I just wanted to see what people thought of these and if they were worth a look
