Anywhere possible to ski this time of year?

Looking for somewhere in the Rockies that I can make a day trip to this time of year. Really not looking for anything long, just a big enough patch to make maybe a 15 foot jump and have some fun. Anyone know of somewhere with a reasonable hike to get to snow?
 
Just browsed through some pages about it, about how far is it to snowline? Seems like most places say it's snow free after mid July
 
I have always wanted to head up to Rae glacier for a day, If you are around after august 23rd we should hike up there Marcus.
 
Looking to get my August in still. Anyone keen on heading up somewhere for a few laps looks like the 28th or 29th would really be my only best option. I've been hiking and scrambling a lot in the Rockies lately there are definitely some patches if your into doing a bit of a hike.
 
Anyone tried hiking jumbo pass? I was thinking of trying to make it up there in the next few weekends. I'm unsure of the conditions though...anyone have any ideas?
 
I've hiked jumbo pass, you won't have any snow though unless you hike all the way to the glacier which is a significant distance from the pass. I would recommend looking into rae glacier or old goat glacier. I have not been to either however they are a much shorter trip. I climbed mount sparrowhawk which is accross the spray lakes from old goat glacier and it had a bit of snow on it, old goat is probably your best bet this time of the year.
 
Thanks for the reply. We were actually thinking of hiking up to the jumbo hut and scouting it for winter touring. I was just interested to know if it is worth dragging skis up there to try for some summer shred! Rae and Old Goat glacier look worth a try though. Thanks for that info.
 
No problem. Just remember that if you want to stay at jumbo hut you need to book it in advance. Oh and you should try swimming in the tarn right by the hut, it'll wake you up right away!
 
I believe there's still snow, a colleague of mine went there a few weeks ago and said there was plenty.If all else fails check out high wood pass or the ice fields parkway, those seem to be the prime spots.

Lots of good stuff around the columbia valley too, or so I've heard.
 
I saw that rae was skiing alright considering the date. Once we get a bit of fresh Rae will be the place! parkways is good an all but require a 50cm base in most places unless you don't mind getting a fat fine . Im not super fond of skiing on a heavily crevassed glacier but if you have the training athabasca is fine and dandy all year round
 
Same here, it made for some dope photos and was just surreal to be skiing in september haha.

it's looking like there will be some snowfall out there this coming week! After midterms i'll be out there again
 
I'm guessing youre the canmore one?

I would be down though, this will be my first full season on skis so I am pumped. switched halfway through last season and started skiing the dive and wild west and just got hooked from it.
