I told my homie I'll go on a long ass bike trip (100+ miles in a day) but I don't own a bike I was wondering if ns could help.

Where should i buy it from? What should I be looking for? How much coin am i going to have to drop for something decent? Whats the pivot 18 of bikes?

Is road biking something you plan on doing a lot? I'd look for something used, aluminum with 105 components as a starter bike.

Really a topic you can go down the rabbit hole on (I can anyway). And as much as you'd like it to, a better bike isn't going to make you faster.

Honestly look around on Facebook marketplace, some real bargains to be had.

I have an alum 2010 Giant I got from a used sporting good store for $300. A little tuning up and it works great.

I was gifted a steel racing Raleigh from the 80s that is way faster and I ride it mainly, but it's a bit less comfortable.

Honestly just find something that is affordable, research the right parts to make it ride really well, and you'll be set. I ride my bike everywhere and my friends are amazed how fast I get places (even though other people's Strava KOMs make me feel like a pleb). Great for ski muscles just like mountain biking

Absolutely love riding my bike cause the distances you can travel given just a few hours, and around town I'm essentially the same speed (or faster) than someone in a car. Definitely think the same about Strava KOMs, some people just on another level chasing KOMs.

Check out gravel bikes. Folks on here turned me on to those when I was bike shopping. Roads are shitty these days so it might give you a bit more versatility than standard road bikes. I can still go 20mph+ on the flat pretty easy with the comfort of knowing it's not gonna explode in rough conditions.

If you're doing 100+ miles a day, the two most important things are:

1. Get a bike fit->saddle height, tilt, reach, drop, etc. Get it done. Your entire body will thank you.

2. Find the right saddle->Your taint will thank you.

It'll cost a decent amount ($200-$300 for a good bike fit) but it'll be worth it.
