Worst resort i have been too, no park like any other skiers only place, when I went there the locals seemed to hate us for being park riders and dressing in baggy clothing and looking like bums, we got yelled by an old couple for making an off trail jump; to top off the day I did a flat nose butter 3 and a dad from a family of 4 yelled at me for being a bad example to their kids by going so fast and doing "Dangerous stunts" This is all in my opinion. But the good thing was that it wasnt many people there so it was peaceful

Definitely the most uptight ski area on the planet. They pretend to have a laid-back vibe, but in reality they are type-A elitists who are offended by literally everything.

Mad River Glen isn't known for their parks. I've never been there but I'd assume their parks aren't top notch, and with all the better park oriented resorts near by I don't see why you would go there if you ski mostly park. Mad River Glen is known for the hardest terrain in the east, so no one goes there looking to hit park laps. Also I'm pretty sure you would get in trouble at any resort if you made an off trail jump. I don't get why people would yell at you for doing tricks if locals and do stuff like this:

This.

I grew up in the east and skied bumps at Hunter and Belleayre. Every winter we would take a trip to Mad River and we always had a blast. Fun glades and steep bump runs. You go there to ski what is arguably the hardest terrain in the east, not to ski park. I have not been to Mad River in years, and since I live out west that won't change, but I absolutely love the place. If you want to challenge yourself back east Mad River is the place to do it.

My first year living in Tahoe I had a roommate who looked at himself as a blue collar stiff. It was part of his sense of self. We lived in Olympic Valley (Squaw Valley) and one night he and one of his buddies went over to the resort at Squaw Creek to poach the hot tub. They were there for a few hours before they got kicked out. When they got back home they were proud, my buddy even said something like "those rich fucks don't like my kind." Of course, he easily could have gotten away with poaching the hot tub, all he had to do was be mellow and drink beer, but if they had let him stay that would have ruined his sense of self. If the rich folks had not objected to him he would have been devastated, it would have meant that maybe he wasn't the blue collar lout he saw himself as.. From what I have been told he gradually started swearing more and more loudly until they kicked him out. He went to the resort at the creek to get kicked out, it became a self-fulfilling prophecy, he had to make sure they gave him the boot. I bring this up because my guess is that the op is somewhat this way. He probably sees himself as a rebellious park kid who is going against rules and old people. My guess is that he seeks out confrontation with these groups in order to validate his sense of self. Like my buddy getting kicked out of the hot tub he seeks to be confrontational with certain groups so that there objection to him will confirm his self image. I mean, if old people at Mad River let him get away with things maybe he isn't the park rat rebel he thinks he is, better to make sure to have a confrontation with said old people to confirm rebel status. I could be wrong, maybe the old people were being dicks, but my guess is that the op got a sense of satisfaction from being confirmed as one of those trouble making park kids. I'm sure he was smiling on the inside. For those living in Squaw I should say that the incident with my buddy occurred more than a decade ago, it might be hard to poach the hot tub at the Squaw Creek resort now. Back then, however, it was super easy, all you had to do was sneak in and not be an idiot. My buddy was an idiot, anyone who actually wanted to avoid being kicked out of the hot tub could easily get away with it. Keep waving the rebel flag op. If you ever come to Mammoth I will make sure to report you to the yellow jackets as another park skier trouble maker to watch out for.

They dont have a park at mad river, they probably dont know what a park is

they dont allow snowboarders, so why would they allow a park. They have some cool cliffs tho

Ski it if you can!! But you can't. Because they are closed. It must a brutal to be a MRG pass holder. Almost $1,000 for a season pass and they are constantly closing due to poor conditions.

Then why would you go to Mad River if you ski park?? You go to mad river to hit cliffs bumps and glades, not to do nosebutters on the green runs where families with little kids will yell at you.

Is he wrong tho?

I call bullshit on your whole OP. You probably were acting disrespectful and in turn were treated just the same. By all means my attire is not loose but I have never had anything but respect from the MRG locals. Maybe don't be so proud and brag about "pissing off the locals" and you'll find yourself getting a little more respect from them next time

I just wanted to try it, it's never bad to try something new

Trying something new is great, but if you knew it wouldn't be park oriented then why would you make a useless thread trashing the mountain. You tried something new and you didn't like it - that is completely fine. But there is no reason to trash Mad River for not being your kind of thing.
