i found this site surfing the web earlier and it really works http://www.spreeder.com/ to help speed up your reading

Basically it displays a passage/article you enter into it in a specified amount of words at a specified pace you select. I have been putting articles from the new yorker/ economist etc (wanted higher level writing so, it would be closer to university type reading) for around the last 30 minutes and feel like it has helped dramatically.

how i think you are meant to use(what i did at least) is start with it displaying one word at 350 and just slowly bring that number up to like 700/750 ish. This is meant to make you stop reading them out in head as much. Then slow the speed down and add more words to screen and speed it back up.

i went from hardly keeping up at 350 words per minute the first time, to being able to do 1000 wpm with 3 displaying at a time.

Did you feel like it helped speed and comprehension or just speed?

Apparently if you can master not saying the words in your head(which is what it is meant to do) it causes improved comprehension and speed.

Personally i just see a speed increase though, and at the higher speeds at the cost of comprehension, but then I find I can slow it down to a speed that was above the original one and read with the same accuracy.
