I work there and as of yet there is not set date but they will let me know 5 days in advance of their hopeful opening date so i will post back once i find out.
Alright so as of right now Centennial Park is set to open this upcoming Friday (the 6th), however if anything does change I will post another update in this thread again.
They do but let's just say Centennial's maintenance staff have been.pretty lazy over the past montj or so. I do understand that MOther NAture has been giving ski area operators in Southern ONtario a hard time over the past few weeks but Centennial management keeps making stupid excuses all the time as to why they haven't made any snow when you compare it to Glen Eden which is about an hours drive from Cetennial in MIlton situated on the Niagara Escarpment where it is a few degrees colder (depending on weather factors and all that) where they have taken every given opportunity that they had to make snow which is why they are now open with a limited but decent amount of terrain. I truly get where your coming from as I feel the same way since I work at Centennial as a lift operator and just like all the other non management staff there we Are eager to start working and make some money.
They shouldn't be nor do they really care. They might care if it was the middle of the night and they were trying to groom the hill and people are acting stupid or putting themselves or others in danger. But other then that their chill from what I know.
UPDATE: Centennial has just postponed their opening day today till at least this upcoming Tuesday. I'll post back on Monday whether it will actually open on that day.
Newest info: Centennial has rescheduled their opening date once again today and it is now scheduled for this Friday Jan 13, 2012 at 4:30 pm. Hopefully this will be the last time that they have to change the date.
At this point there is nothing set up. There's only been one run [Centre] and the carpet open since opening day. I haven't been there in over a week but i'm guessing with these cold temps at night they've been making some snow on the run by the T-Bar as they have been wanting to open that for quite a while now. I wouldn't bet on the park opening this season as there policy is to have the whole hill open and then move onto the park and so far only one run has been open.
It definitively won't open this season since there's about 2 more weeks of riding. What they should of done is made as much snow as possible on the bottom half of the regular terrain park run when they had the right temps and made a hike park setup with the few of their own boxes and the rails they borrow from Mount St Louis each year along with some rollers and a little jump. They would never allow people to build their own stuff when the hill is open during the season as it is would be a liability thing for them.
