I'm movin to LA, and wanted to see if anyone knows the area or has an opinion on where I should look for a place. I definitely wanna be close (ish) to the beach, but don't wanna spend a ton, so I've been looking in the Culver City/Palms area. Overall, just looking for a pretty fun place that isn't ghetto within 15 minutes of Santa Monica or Venice. Any advice would be appreciated!

la brea, its right off the 10, close to hollywood and santa monica isnt too far. a lot of kids that go to LA film school live in that area. park la brea is a big apartment complex.

glendale is a nice area too. a little farther inland tho. up the 5 past the 110. that and echo park.

holly wood really isnt a terrible place either. anywhere around melrose, gower, highlands ave, etc.. i've spent a lot of time there.

those would be my picks if i was going to live in central LA area.

Studio City is pretty chill as well. Its nice because whenever traffic is fucked on the 101, you can mob the canyons over to the other side of the hill.

If i were you i'd look at manhattan beach or one of the south bay areas (hermosa, redondo, PV, etc). It's got such a chill vibe and everyone there is awesome. The towns are perfect beach towns.

if you really wanna stay in la i'd say that:

-westwood is damn tight with the village and ucla

-brentwood is even better (but much more expensive)

-marina del rey is pretty sweet, definitely some nice apartments out there with great restaurants around it.

If i were you i just wouldn't go north of mulholland drive. the valley is alright late fall->spring but once summer comes around it is so shitty.

i basically live in marina del rey, im just right up the hill in westchester. awesome area, and there definitely are good apartments in marina. super close to the ocean, manhattan beach, hermosa, redondo, santa monica, etc. westchester is pretty expensive, especially around LMU, but idk what the prices in marina are like.

Cool, thanks for the advice. Forgot to mention that I will be conducting some business downtown in the Fashion District, so access to Downtown is pretty important.

You could prolly find a good enough place for a good price in culver city. Def close enough to the beach that you can get out for some dawn patrol seshes.
