I need some ideas on how to make mittens, not gloves, that are pretty warm and won't be eaten by the rope tow. +major k for answers and bumps

I have a pair of insulated leather gloves that work wonders. Just go to a welding store and pick up insulated welding gloves. They're not that expensive and will last you years.

welding outside in -20 sucks, they make some that are super warm. I dunno if it's common in US though

the ones my dad uses are mitten-like. thumb and index have their own fingers and the other 3 are in one compartment. they're amazingly warm and will never fall apart on you.

an alternative would be to get a normal pair of leather gloves that are way too big and wear a bunch of lairs under them.

My buddy told me if you go to a hardware store, and get some leather construction gloves, you can get a spray or something to waterproof them and i guess theyre super durable.
