What's the wholesale price of skis? How much is the mark up for retailers? eg the extreme - they retail for $625, how much would the retailer purchase them for?

ONE HUNDRED BILLION DOLLARS.

i think the profit they made is pretty much 100% when they sell it in stores. im not sure about that but think thats what my friend, whos rep is a dad for fischer, told me. atleast im sure its the way it works with outerwear.

It greatly depends on the model, when skis are marked down at the end of the season at 40% off, they are still going to make about a 75-100% profit still.

this is a question that shouldn't be asked. since the internet is killing all the little ski shops. The shop i work at had a guy come in with a pair of volkl A 50's in march we asked him how much he paid for them turns out he paid cost for them.

well, the mark up on soft goods is much greater than on hard goods. hard goods are marked up 30-40% i believe.

Tis true. I talked to the owner of my local freestyle shop, which in October he sells skis for wholesale price. He does this to spread the sport of freestyle in our area, and make it more affordable. He sells more than enough skis November-March to make up for lost profits.

each brand has a slightly different margin but it falls in bout 30-45 when sold at full rip, now there are large sellers that get greater discounts on their large group buys and some shops order by what is on hot buy.

yeah, online stores like getboards sell their stuff really cheap at the end of the season. always wonder if they are selling them at cost, or even below

Yeah. It's bullshit that a ski shop is looking to hire and pay employees as well as make a profit on a low volume product.

Such bastards!
