Anyone have Subaru manual transmission knowledge

Got a whirring noise in any gear, including coasting in neutral. Goes into every gear fine no grinding. Got it flushed today (quite a bit of metal) and it’s the same or arguably worse. Throw out bearing? Synchros? help me

Not that I can notice no

Is the glitter bronze or silver? Could be a bearing going out or your front diff is taking a shit. Is the noise the same nomatter the gear or does pitch change?

Silver, pitch doesn’t change but I can really hear the whirring winding down as the car slows down. Haven’t thought about the diff yet but that’s a good point

My guess would be something in the front diff, but the only way to know for sure is to crack it open

Disclaimer:not a subie expert by any means just guessing

Actually I just did some searching and the front diff fluid and transmission are shared, so getting my transmission flushed also flushed my front diff. I’ll keep looking though

Also, anyone is in the market for a subaru impreza hatch I have one it’s in perfect condition only driven to the store. 25000 firm I know what I have

They are or aren't? Because yeah if your front diff is going out it'll glitter the trans oil. Does it whine when coasting in neutral?

Yeah they're shared, on the automatics the front diff is separate and needs to be drained and filled itself. And yes I've still got the whirring coasting in neutral

Differentials are one of Subie's weak points and this would be my first guess as well. I imagine if you through it on a lift you might be able to tell if it's blown up?

Is it AWD? Had a 93 Impreza sedan that was AWD. It had mismatched tires on it and it ended up taking out the rear diff. Car ended up being front wheel only.

Its a fucking Subaru. Set it on fire and get a real vehicle that doesn't break down every 200 kilometers.

Yep AWD, I do even happen to have mismatched tires front and back but they’re the same dimensions all around so I don’t think that’s affecting anything

Mine was the same, had mismatched tires, matching dimensions but not all tires are identical. The circumference/tread wear was different, that’s what damaged mine and has done to others. Hope not to yours but might be worth checking out.

I blew a diff in my sub years ago because people put a spare tire in that was a 15 and the other tires were 16. Or something similar. Changed it at night. Idk why i assumed the spare would fit the car. I wasn't stoked.
