Anyone have any experience on the SFB shorty?

Just as the title says, looking for any first hand experiences. My 5’ tall girlfriend is looking at the 165s but I can’t find any solid info on them at all anywhere. Just want to make sure they can handle an adult skiing them. I ski the regular bacons in 184, curious how they compare

Shape wise the shorty hasn't changed since the second generation, 108mm Sir Francis Bacon aka the good one. So unless your gf is a pro or looking for a powder ski, I think 165cm 108 underfoot is too much ski for someone who's 5 ft or 152cm. Also, Line manufactures in China and has some durability issues (I've never had too many problems but others here definitely have).

when I was short(er) I rode the shorty SFB and I loved em. super buttery on the tips, but still charged pretty well in big mountain lines. The ski is also the perfect width to take into the park if she had any intention. LT; DR, I recommend them.

This would primarily be a powder ski, I figured with the amount of rocker it has, the length would be alright. Do you have any other suggestions? She’s not dead set on them by any means.

There’s a thread on them over at skiboardsonline.com. Adults much bigger than your gf have ridden them fine. Another alternative is the Armada Triple J

I don't mean to pry but is your gf very heavy or powerful?

I've been researching wider skis for my wife, Icelantic Maiden 101 or 111, Black Crows Atris Birdie, Liberty Genesis 106 etc., she prefers flatter tails and didn't want anything too wide so we have a pair of Black Crows Daemon Birdies coming in the mail...steepandcheap has a pretty good sale on them right now which didn't hurt.

She’s about 100lbs not counting gear, getting more powerful by the day, but it’s only her 3rd season on skis. She’s really looking for something with a bit of tail rocker since her other pair of skis are fairly directional with mostly flat tails. I’ll take a look at those though!

I just think the 165 is too big. Try the 155 if she's 152cm and 100 pounds. It won't be too short, I'm 181cm and I prefer pow skis in the 185-186 range.

165 could be a stretch, but a if she's a decent enough skier it would work. a 152-160cm would props be more ideal
